Jon contemplates his outerwear before reading a long passage on a hot day. Stephen gets stoned and Philip gets out of town. Jon goes camping and is convinced that bears are outside his tent making hungry noises. Meanwhile, Philip is casting out demons, healing the sick and preaching Jesus. Jon points out the silver lining around the unpleasant odor given off by Richmond's farms around this time of year, and admits his jealousy of the church in China. Philip interprets Isaiah and baptizes the Egyptian eunuch by the side of a desert road in Gaza. The takeaway? The Christian people are in for a life of persecution and suffering, but God's promises are well worth it in the end.
