You know the story of David and Goliath don’t you?
The armies of Israel and the armies of the Philistines were in a war.
Every day Goliath would shout to the armies of Israel for them to send out a champion, send him out, so that Goliath could fight him.
Whoever would win the contest would win the war.
I Sam 17.
How did the men of Israel respond to Goliath’s challenge?
Did they have courage?
Why not?
Goliath was really really big, and strong, and scary.
Who eventually stepped up and said, “I will fight the giant?”
David, a little, young, shepherd boy.
Why wasn’t David afraid of Goliath?
Why did David have so much courage?
David had courage because David put his faith in God.
Do you remember what our definition of faith is?
Faith is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see
What was David hoping for when he fought Goliath?
He was hoping that he would win the battle.
Did David have confidence that he would win?
YES.
Did David know for certain that he would win?
He thought he would, but he didn’t know.
He couldn’t see into the future and know he would win.
But David had assurance that he would win even though he could not see.
David had faith that God would give him the victory and it was David’s faith that gave him courage.
Kids if you want to be a hero like David, then you must have the faith of David.
You must have confidence that God is greater than all of your problems.
You must have assurance that God will help you even though you cannot see the future.
Heroes Have Courage
How can you have courage?
Through faith
Faith in God for salvation
Faith in God that you can trust Him because He is bigger than any enemy you might face.
God was big enough to defeat Goliath.
God is big enough to help you no matter what you are going through.
