A Scientific Impossibility.
There is a vital doctrine for victorious Christin living that truly is astounding.
The doctrine is wonderful in its implications but also in its existence.
This simple yet profound doctrine quickly separates the wheat from the chaff, the sheep from the goats, the pride from the humble.
It does this because it is a doctrine that without childlike faith, is impossible to believe.
As a result many people stumble at this confession.
It is the belief in the incarnation and virgin birth.
To believe in the virgin birth and to confess it takes no small amount of faith.
The concept in ludicrous and you risk being labelled as a lunatic if you say you believe it.
God knows its crazy and impossible which is why he chose it.
If you say and believe that you believe that God because flesh and came into this word by a virgin giving birth you are making a very bold and very spiritual statement.
There is no evidence for that confession, and it has never happened before or after - the only evidence you have to base that belief on is the bible says so.
Therefore to confess this doctrine is to confess that the bible, not science o man, or experience or nature is your highest authority - and if God said it - i believe it.
The Blessings of the Incarnation
1: To Reveal God to Man
“Declare” - exegete - reveal/open up/explain.
Go0d used to speak to the people through prophets.
He would tell the prophet what to say.
Now he speaks to you through Jesus Christ.
How does Jesus Speak to us?
Through the Holy Scriptures.
God is a Spirit - he is, for all our earthly abilities, invisible.
Yes we can see his works, and yes we can see his involvement, but we could never see Him.
We cannot know god apart from Jesus Christ.
2: To Redeem Man to God
Nothing is clearer in scripture than the fact that the principle purpose behind the incarnation was to save man from their sins.
“Is come” - To travel.
From where to where - from Heaven to earth.
Perhaps the most clear:
“Came into this world” - same word - traveled.
The Best example we have of this is the communion Table.
The communion Table is all about the incarnation.
How can we have bread - unless Christ had a body?
How can we have wine - unless christ had blood.
Flesh and blood church - flesh and blood is the incarnation.
God and Spirit.
Spirits don’t bleed.God needed a body to bleed.
Wqhy?
3: To Connect man and God
Our Salvation is based on an event that occurred 2000 years ago upon a Hill called Calvary.
Our Total Deliverance is based on an event that will happen sometime in the very near future.
What happens in the meantime?
In the meantime, right Now, the ministry of Jesus continues.
What type of ministry is it?
It is a ministry that he can only do as a result of His incarnation.
Jesus knows how you feel.
What does an almighty God know about pain?
What does an all powerful God know about sorrow, heartache and Rejection?
What does an all powerful God know about temptation?
The incarnation is vital to me because by it i believe that Jesus knows my pain and can help me in my pain and in my weakness.
