Introduction:
· One day Jesus was walking through Casoria and asked His disciples.
Who do “they” say that I am? (then) BUT who do YOU say that I am.
· I love how the Gospel we read in scripture can be so deep and touch every part of our existence and still there is this simplicity about it.
Who do you believe Jesus is?
And that makes all the difference.
Threefold Testimony for Jesus as the Christ
· Born of Water – baptism
o
· Born of Blood – on the cross
o
· Testimony of the Spirit
o
· This is the testimony of God about Jesus.
Our Response is More Than a Personal Decision
· It boils down to what a person believes about Jesus.
o Other faiths may claim tolerance (and we should have tolerance in how we treat them) but they are wrong based on what they claim about Jesus.
· Our faith hinges on Jesus as the resurrected Christ
o Was he from God as the bible says
o Did he really die and was he resurrected for our sins?
(As the Holy Spirit testifies)
o – about the reality of eternal life but makes huge statements regarding our message.
There is no such thing as being “neutral in our faith” about Christ.
To not believe in Jesus as the Christ is also to call God a liar.
(Muslim)
The Testimony to Come
· God promise for those who believe
o Eternal Life with Him in heaven.
§ This is not too hard to believe.
· I believe God created
· I believe (because of our sin) God lived in the flesh
· I believed Jesus died AND was resurrected
· So, I don’t have a hard time believing in eternal life.
· Every knee will bow, and every tongue confess.
· (VERSE 12) There will be no middle ground.
Either you have Christ or you don’t.
Either you are on your way to eternal glory or you’re not.
