An Invitation to come to the Lord
“Come, everyone who is thirsty, come to the waters; and you without money, come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost!
Why do you spend money on what is not food, and your wages on what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and you will enjoy the choicest of foods.

Two options in verses 1-2
Take what you need freely.
Buy what you don’t need.
This is an invitation to stop spending your energy on trying to make your own life work, and to accept the salvation that is available in Christ.

Pay attention and come to Me; listen, so that you will live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the promises assured to David.
KJV- Sure mercies of David… It’s not mercy from David, but mercy David received.
This word translated mercy (actually plural) is one of the most important in the Bible. And it is such a rich and deep word it is hard to give a good translation in one word… It is the Hebrew word
Hesed
Holman translates as - promises assured
ESV- steadfast sure love
Lexham English- enduring proofs of the mercies shown
NIV- faithful love
CSB- The Basis of the faithful kindness.
You get the idea.
The one word is the foundation behind Lauren Daigle’s song Loyal!

An Invitation that extends to the Nations
Since I have made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples,
so you will summon a nation you do not know, and nations who do not know you will run to you. For the Lord your God, even the Holy One of Israel, has glorified you.”
I believe the Him in verse 4 is the same Him over chapter 53. It is Messiah, King Jesus, and descendant of David. who will suffer and die, abut he will also be a leader a commander. King Jesus will one day return to rule and reign from Israel, and the nations will come running.

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call to Him while He is near.

Why? Because God has compassion and free forgiveness to those who will.

Instead of the thornbush, a cypress will come up, and instead of the brier, a myrtle will come up; it will make a name for Yahweh as an everlasting sign that will not be destroyed.
