Here the Apostle Paul reveals that there are a diversity of “callings” or ministries in the Church. Everyone is not called to the same ministry. However, everyone (particularly Spirit-filled believers) is called to some ministry, from the least () to the greatest (). Moreover, all of God’s gifts/callings are permanent (; ).
How can we know what ministry we have been called to?

How Do I Discover My Calling (Ministry)?

Through the Gift

The gift determines (reveals) the ministry God has called you to (; , and ). Notice how the bible shows Philip operating in a gift before identifying his ministry!
1 Corinthians 12:31a KJV 1900
But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
“Don’t be in such a hurry to put labels on yourself. Receive the contents (gift) and then put the label on afterwards.” — Donald Gee
().

Through Desire

God works through our desires ().
Sometimes our desires are nothing more than selfish ambition ().
Therefore, make sure your desires spring from love or a desire to serve others ().

Through Trail and Error

;
Don’t be afraid to reevaluate your plans if you don’t meet with success.

Through Others

Sometimes our calling is first revealed through someone else (). My calling into the ministry was first revealed to my father.

How Do I Fulfill My Calling (Ministry)?

By Waiting

Some callings require time (preparation) before you’re able to perform them (, ).
We must wait on the gift before we can fulfill the ministry ().
“Don’t be in such a hurry to put labels on yourself. Receive the sample (contents) and then put the label on afterwards.”

By Working

“The Lord doesn’t ask for your ability, only your availability; if you prove your dependability, He will increase your capability!”
Most people never fulfill or even discover their calling because they are unfaithful ().
