You all have a good week! How much fun did you have? If you had fun if you had fun I wanna hear you scream! That’s awesome! My favorite thing this week was… Oh man it was awesome! I wanna thank you all for having me this weekend! I loved seeing all your faces and sharing God’s Word with you! Thanks to those who did not fall asleep on me! And thanks for those who did while you were asleep we totally pranked by calling you parents over speaker phone and totally got you grounded! Hehe you know who you are! JK JK
So you all ready to go home (tomorrow)? Get the rest of this Summer over? Get back to school? Man you all sound so excited… Hey listen did some of you learn something? And no I’m not talking about how your youth pastors taught you to pull a bunch of pranks! But have you learned something from the Bible studies and sermons this week? you know when you weren’t asleep. Yeah!
Listen how man friends do you all have at home? I suppose you have some that you like to hang out with! How many of those friends do you think are saved? Listen I would suspect that some of you have friends that aren’t saved meaning they are going to hell.
Listen to this passage with me...
Matthew 28:16–20 ESV
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matt 28:16
Y’all repeat with me GO! Come on say it with me GO!
I want you all to imagine right now that friend you have in your head that you know isn’t saved. Now I want you imagine that you and your friend is out just standing in the middle of the road (I know, I know it sounds bizarr but imagine your friend is really stupid okay it makes the story make a little more sense lol). Now imagine there is the semi tractor trailer barreling towards your friend, he has no idea what is coming towards him. Now you have more than enough time to tackle your friend out of the way. What do you do? Do you just stand there? Or do you tackle him out of the way! Some of you might be like I don’t he hasn’t given me back that XBox game I let him borrow 3 months ago and it’s kinda ticking me off… NO! Of course you would taclk him out of the way, then you’d slap up side the head and say why you stupid you almost died!!!
Listen your friend is in worse danger than a tractor trailer carrying 70 tons of weight barreling towards him at 70 mph! We are talking about his eternity and he could literally enter into it in a blink of an eye right now! And not only your friend but this whole world!
You know I did a quick search on google about how many people die a day. You know what I found? 55.3 million die each year, 151,600 die each day, 6,316 die each hour, every minute 105, and every second 2. One day that is going to be your friend, your mom, your dad, your brother, sister, the person across the the street, the person in line whom God told you tell Him about. One day they are all going to breath their last breath and then enter into their eternal home. And don’t think for a second that someone else is going to tell them about Christ! If you feel a nudge in heart, that is called conviction. When you were saved you were given the Holy Spirit to guide you throughout your life from now on! That means God Himself is living inside you and is communicating to you on a Spiritual level to go tell others about His Son Jesus Christ! Listen, I have heard numerous stories of christians feeling that convicting nudge on there heart and then choosing to ignore and the next day as the hours went by, the minutes hand moving its way, and the seconds just ticked on by… (snap, snap). Something tragic happened and they went to there eternal home which is hell. I suspect most Christians today are responsible for at least few or more for some people not getting one more chance to receive the Lord, to receive Heaven, to escape! I would say this is a life or death matter but this a heaven and hell eternal matter. Because it doesn’t matter, after this life you will be sent to your eternal home and there is no changing the out come after that! I mean come on why are we afraid? Jesus said this to His disciples...
Matthew 10:16–25 ESV
“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Beware of men, for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their synagogues, and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles. When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death, and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.
Mt 10:16-
If the Holy Spirit is telling you to tell someone about Christ then He has prepared your heart for that hour to go and speak to them about Christ, and guess what it wont be you speaking but the the Holy Spirit speaking through you telling you what to say! And not only that, He will also prepare the heart of the person your feel convicted to speak to (If any of you want to know the deeper theology behind my reasoning on that come here after my lesson and ask me about it)! We don’t know the reason why God picks certain times for us to tell others about Him. There could be many reasons but we do know our command and it is to go tell others about Christ!
My parents rents a house they own out, from time to time. At one time my mom rented the house out to one of my cousins. He had a roommate living there with him. Now it was the end of the summer and I had stored some of my stuff over there before they had any renters. I went over there with my cousin’s knowledge to get some of my stuff as I was going to leave for my last semester of college really soon. I went over there and my cousin wasn’t home but his roommate was. I instantly know this kid isn’t saved, he smelled like he had been smoking some sort of drug. He just looked lost all over. I get all my stuff out to the car and have a short conversation with my cousin’s roommate and right before I leave I this right here (point to your heart), it the Holy Spirit saying that he doesn’t know Jesus, he needs to know Jesus, tell him about Jesus! For whatever I didn’t feel comfortable doing it that day. I felt like he wouldn’t listen or that he thought I would be weird taking up his time. I don’t know why the guy was nice. There was literally no excuse not to tell him in this moment! But you know what I did? I ignored the Holy Spirit… (start snapping). A few months went by and one I heard that he had gotten into a fight with someone and under the influence of drugs they both pulled out their guns and he was shot and killed… He went to his eternal home that! Do you know where he went? Hell!! He went to hell! I was probably the last person that God laid on the heart to tell him about His Son. He was on the brink of heaven and hell that day! If I would of just told him about Jesus maybe he wouldn’t be in hell today! I hope that maybe the was a paramedic that told him about Jesus (I know some do that) or maybe before he drew his last breath he remembered hearing the gospel sometime as a kid and prayed to recieved Jesus because the terror of passing into the unknown got to him. But chances are he was killed instantly before he ever had a chance to give Jesus a thought!
Chances are we all have eternal blood on our hands! Listen to me people are on the brink of the heaven and hell! Every year, every day, every hour, every minute, and every second!
It doesn’t have to be hard! I have witnessed to several people in my life about Jesus some prayed to receive Jesus others didn’t. But you know what? I never regretted telling any about Jesus. There were times where I was really nervous and stuttered a lot but God’s Word, the message about Jesus dying to save us always rang out! Literally kids! Listen, I have literally sounded really meek and stupid in front of a person while telling them about Jesus, but you know what was really weird they were listening like they were hearing something really profound! A lot of those people who I felt like I was a mumbling fool in-front of got saved. Because it doesn’t matter how smooth or articulate you are with words, if you are obedient to that voice inside of you God will get the message across clearly to that persons heart/soul. They will hear the message about how Jesus save and then be presented with two options. Come to Jesus and be saved or don’t come to Jesus and stay lost in your sin.
Jesus died to be the antidote! We have the direction to tell this diseased sin ridden world about Him! What are you going to do? Let it die and go to hell or let hear the message about Jesus?
Listen I’m not saying its the easiest thing in the world to doand that you wont suffer, because if you are obedient to God, the fact is, His word says you will suffer because of the world. But what is more worth it? Having a more comfy life or seeing a lot of people get saved from hell?
I also want you to notice it also says make disciples! Yes that means telling others about Jesus and calling them to make a decision to make Jesus there Lord! But “making disciples” goes much deeper than that, it means more! It’s once that person becomes saved you help him or her grow in Jesus and understanding this (Point to the Bible)! So that they can go and do the things you’re doing; telling many people about Jesus! Listen I understand God might call you to tell a ton of people about Him and it could be next to impossible to disciple them all. That’s why you point them to a godly church, (preferably a Southern Baptist one) but now I realize that I might be talking a little over your heads right now!
Just know this, if you are saved, God gives this command to you, to tell others about Jesus with your words so that they can make Jesus their Lord! Then you help them grow and become just like you, so they can tell others about Him so that others can get saved too!
At this time I would like to open up the alter again! I would like cabin leaders and youth leaders to come forward! I want ever head bowed and eye closed. Some of you still need to make decisions for the Lord! Others of you There are some of you who need to make a commitment of telling your friends and others about Jesus Christ so they can be saved! If that’s you come I would like you to stand make your way out of your seat look at the leaders that are standing here. Grab them by the shoulder and go talk with them!
