Like Isreal even Christians reject Christ in various ways:
As a ruler - We don’t submit to his authority
As a redeemer - we don’t accept him and rest on him for salvation
Tim Keller tells the story of a woman who was scared to death that God offers salvation as a free gift:
If works were a requirement than she can is limited in how much He can ask of her.
She is in control.
But,
If God’s salvation is truly free than there is nothing she could do to earn God’s salvation, then there is no limited to what God could ask of her.
Salvation is free, but following God is not.
Like Israel we worship wrongly
We attempt to be biblical and the service is solid
But, often our attention goes elswhere

We harbor hate for our brothers and sisters as we sing praises to God

Let’s face it, we are all guilty of many of these things, aren’t we?
But, if we embrace Jesus Christ through faith
We have overcome these things if we repent and believe
We have been given a spirit to look away from these sinful ways
We can submit to men God sends to lead us
When we look at Christ we see that God sends certain men to share his word
We can walk by faith and not by sight
We are drawn to worship God over all other things
We know that even when we get it wrong that Jesus the High Priest intercedes for us in our worship
We understand that our body is the temple of a Holy God
When we look at Christ we see that God expects to be worshipped a certain way
In all of this, living in light of the gospel we can see that even though our hearts still have this lingering sin, we can come before him and repent:
And, when we do we have a savior who stands ready to forgive.
