Day 1: The Reality
Devotion Day 1
Thursday, July 12
Take your Bible and Read
Wow, What happened?
If you read , what you find is that God created all things and he created it all good.
In fact, he even said so.
Adam and Eve were the prize of His creation, the only part of His creation made in His image.
Question:
What does it mean that everything was good?
What does it say about God that everything was good?
What does it mean that we are made in the image of God? See below.
Adam and Eve had been placed in this wonderful place called Eden.
They had a life of no fear, no shame, no secrets, nothing to worry about.
They had an abundance of food.
They could eat of every tree of the garden, but they were given a rule regarding what they could and could not eat.
This wasn’t a bad deal.
They had true freedom.
They had each other.
They had an unbroken relationship with God.
But they fell.
They broke God’s Law, and breaking God’s Law always has consequences.
What were the consequences of their sin?
See
Why do you think they hid from God?
Reflection:
Have we been any better than Adam and Eve? See
Look at this list of the Ten Commandments.
Put a check beside the commands of God that you have broken.
Put a check beside
You shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an idol.
You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God.
Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.
Honor your Father and Mother.
You shall not murder.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet anything belonging to your neighbor.
If God judged you based upon your perfect obedience to this list, would you be innocent or guilty?
What happens if we are found guilty before God? See
