Introduction

Miracle
A surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.
The birth of this great nations in 1776 was a miracle of God.
Today we will celebrate our independence, our freedom. Political freedom in scripture was understood as a blessing from God, and political bondage was understood as a curse. Notice these Scriptures about freedom.
John 8:32 NIV84
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV84
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Galatians 5:1 NIV84
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
1 Peter 2:16 NIV84
Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.
The Miracle Catch
There are about 125 miracles in the bible. 37 of these are Jesus miracles found in the Gospels.
Miracle
A surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.
Today we will study the passage found in when Jesus help the disciples catch a large number of fish.
Luke 5:1–11 NIV84
One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God, he saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men.” So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.
(5:1-3) Jesus wants your boat (
(5:4-5) Jesus wants your nets (Obedience)
(5:6-7) Jesus wants your partners
(5:8-11) Jesus wants you.
I am a sinner
I am astonished
I am afraid
Four requirements to experience a miracle from God.

The Word of God ()

The Gospel
Acts 8:12–14 NIV84
But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw. When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.
The Gospel must be preached.
The Gospel must be heard.
The Gospel must be taught.

The Demands of God ()

God is in control of the situation (4)
God wants our submission.
God is in control of Peter (5)
Often the reason that we do not experience miracles is not that God does not have control over the situation, but that god does not have control over us! WSC
Peter could not depend on his experience. (Day)
Peter could not depend on his circumstance. (worked hard all night)
HE MUST ONLY DEPEND ON THE WORD OF GOD. (Because you say so.)
Often the reason we do not experience miracles is that we depend on other things… we put our hope in experience, and circumstance rather than the Word of God.
I have done that… haven’t caught anything.
I am tired… worked hard all night.
but because you say so.
Satan will give you many reasons not to put out into the deep. Satan will give you many reasons not to let down your nets. BUT today I will give you one good reason to put out into the deep and let down your nets… because Jesus said so. If you want to see miracles in your life, your families life you must believe and obey the Word of God!

The Power of God ()

When they had done so. When they obeyed the Word of God.
The Power of God is conditional.
When they had done so. When they obeyed the Word of God.
2. The Power of God is overwhelming.
More blessing than you can handle.
3. The Power of God is convicting.
Your Grace Still Amazes Me
My faithful Father, enduring friend Your tender mercy is like a river with no wind It overwhelms me, covers my sin Each time I come into your presence I stand in wonder once again
Your grace still amazes me Your love is still a mystery Each day I fall on my knees 'cause your grace still amazes me Your grace still amazes me
Oh patient savior, you make me whole You are the author and the healer of my soul What can I give you lord what can I say I know there's no way to repay you only to offer you my praise
Your grace still amazes me Your love is still a mystery Each day I fall on my knees Cause your grace still amazes me Your grace still amazes me
It's deeper, it's wider, it's stronger, it's higher It's deeper, it's wider, it's stronger, it's higher Than anything my eyes can see
Your grace still amazes me Your love is still a mystery Each day I fall on my knees Cause your grace still amazes me Your grace still amazes me
The Conviction of God (8-10)

The Call of God ()

“THE CALL” is to do something else.
“THE CALL” is to leave everything behind.
“THE CALL” is to follow Jesus.
Every person is in need of a miracle today.
