Revelation 2:18–29 NASB95
18 “And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet are like burnished bronze, says this: 19 ‘I know your deeds, and your love and faith and service and perseverance, and that your deeds of late are greater than at first. 20 ‘But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21 ‘I gave her time to repent, and she does not want to repent of her immorality. 22 ‘Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. 23 ‘And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. 24 ‘But I say to you, the rest who are in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them—I place no other burden on you. 25 ‘Nevertheless what you have, hold fast until I come. 26 ‘He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations; 27 and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces, as I also have received authority from My Father; 28 and I will give him the morning star. 29 ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’
REVELATION 2:18-

NOTICE THE DESCRIPTION OF JESUS.

Eyes like a flame of fire
Revelation 1:14 NASB95
His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire.
Revelation 19:12 NASB95
His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
It is a reminder of the judgment of God

JESUS HAS A FEW GOOD WORDS FOR THYATIRA

I know your deeds (perfect tense) v. 19
Your love
Your faith
Your Service
Ephesians 4:12 NASB95
for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
Perseverance
Notice this statement - you doing greater works than before.

PROBLEM - YOU TOLERATE EVIL

Tolerate - (v. 20) you leave to someone else to do something
Issue - Jezebel (calls herself a prophetess - Jesus does not)
While they watch, Jezebel influence people to walk away from God in the church.
People of the church - commit acts of immorality (porne) - any kind of sexual immorality
2 Peter 2:2 NASB95
Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;
2 Peter 2:14 NASB95
having eyes full of adultery that never cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children;

JESUS NOW REACTS IN JUDGMENT AGAINST PEOPLE IN THE CHURCH

I gave her time to repent (you can do what you like and not face the consequences)
Problem - Jezebel does not want (wish, desire) to repent of her immorality.
I will punish her with sickness (v. 22)
Those who follow her - great tribulation (they still have time to repent - God’s grace is real)
No repentance - they will die ( - abuse the Lord supper)
Not a message you hear in many churches today - you have a time to repent, if not God will punish you.

I WILL GIVE TO EACH ONE OF YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR DEEDS (v. 23)

Galatians 6:7 NASB95
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.
All the churches will know I am He who searches (careful investigation) the minds and hearts.

THEY HAVE KNOWN THE DEEP THINGS OF SATAN (V. 24)

WHAT IS THE BELIEVERS RESPONSE TO THIS SITUATION

Hold fast (v. 25) until Jesus comes
Overcome (v. 26) nike - Keep my deeds until the end
We stay faithful because in the end we will have authority over the nations and we will rule with Jesus (v. 27)
