Are Gods words in our Heart?

Over the last two weeks we have seen how fasting and the word of God can defeat the onslort of the enemy.
we have seen how sum attacks heed us to fast to see a result and we have seen how Jesus thwarted the temptations of the devil by using the word of God.
The way that Jesus used the word of God is the way that we should use it.
King David, whom was said to be a man after Gods own heart.acts
Acts 13:22 AV
And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
David might have had this acculaid place upon him but this did not nor should it ,or can it make him perfect.
David sinned greatly with bath sheda did he know he’d sinned. o yes he new but he thought no one else knew. and when Nathan the prophet revealed to him his sin then and only then was he repentant
Psalm 51:1–19 AV
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
yes this reading is important because it shows to us a man who was a King who had acknowledged his sin before God and wanted forgiveness
but this is along way away from the same king whom wrote this verse
Psalm 119:11 AV
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
here we see a Man some time later who had found the secret to avoiding sin.
Place the word of God in your hearts and this will reduce the sin that you commit.
But you might say Pastor but i don’t commit sin
For us to say we don’t do something we need to know what it is we shouldn’t de doing.
we say we don”t sin but what is sin.
James 4:17 AV
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
The word of God is so very important for us to know what that Good is.
His standard of good not ours.
We here it o so often of he’s a good man or she’s a good women,
but so often we are measuring them upon our moral standard and the people around.
fifty years ago if a girl had a child out of wedlock she would be frowned upon
fifty years ago if you went and lived together before marriage once again you were frowned upon
fifty years ago adultery was frown upon
Gods word hasn’t changed
Today however if you do those things very few people bat and eye.
what has changed?
Gods word hasn’t changed
however men don’t read the book so they don’t know or care if they break Gods law.
sin is simple to describe the breaking of Gods Law.
some will say that that the law that is in the old testament is done away with and we are now under grace and yes we are under grace
but if we steal if we kill if we commit adultery we are still breaking Gods law.
If we dont read the word of God how can we know if we sin.
James 1:23 AV
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
this is hear in te word of God.
2 Corinthians 3:18 AV
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
how many of us look into a mirror and see something out of place and put it right.
i’m reminded of the lady who was baking in the kitchen when the door bell went going to the door she passes the mirror and look it to see she is ok but does nothing on seeing her image, when opening the door here guest says i see your baking .
how did she know she was baking?
the visitor had seen what the lady had seen and cared not to do any thing about it the flour on her face.
this verse speaks of us looking into the glory of the lord and being changed
the word of God is like a mirror and as we look into it we see those little imperfections in our life that the word of God reveals and we are able to ask God to help us in those areas. and we will be changed
Ephesians 5:26–27 AV
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
here Paul is giving us of another picture of the word in that it washes both the individual and the Church that he might present a glorious church
The word of God is like a mirror
the word of God washes
The one reveals the imperfection and the other removes the imperfection.
All this can be done if the individual spends time to allow the word of God to have access to their lives.
Men the Bible that was given to you For Fathers Day is no good if you put it on a book shelf and never read it
like toothpaste in a tube or steredent in a file they”re no good unless you use them.
Psalm 119:11 AV
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
our individual sin our corporate sin as a nation can be attributed to the fact the we don’t read or don’t hide the word of God in our hearts
AS we see in the life of the children of Israel in the Bible when they followed their God when they placed the word around their necks when their morality was that of Gods then they prospered
However when they did the oppersite then they were opperessed and the word of God was’nt heard and their fortunes went the other way.
Im not saying that reading your bible will make you rich
But what im am saying that when you read the word of God and let the word do that work of washing your life then you will see that you are being changed as a result.
if we look ito the word of God and dont allow the word of God to change us then we will be like the women who while baking looks in the mirror and dose nothing about it.
the result will be that others will see in you those faults.
lets pray.
