The Call, The Vision, The Mission

The church’s vision is what the church will look like in the next five to ten years of its life as it accomplishes the mission.

A Vision Statement, is not a statement describing what a certain ministry is now, but rather a Vision Statement asserts what those in the ministry would like it to become.

The Vision Statement defines the direction in which the ministry will focus.

Notice the difference between a "Mission Statement" and a "Vision Statement".

A "Vision Statement" explains what the ministry desires to "be" and the "Mission Statement" explains what the ministry desires to "do" (i.e., The Mission Statement explains how the Vision will be accomplished.).

Mission defines the key ministry objectives (or purposes) of the ministry.

Mission answers the "WHAT?

" question.

What is this ministry going to do to accomplish the vision?

Jesus preached the Kingdom of God (heaven).

The disciples remained in Jerusalem because of Jesus teaching.

The disciples remained in Jerusalem because Christ formed a vision for them.

The vision was twofold,

Baptized by (in) the Holy Spirit

Be witnesses

Christ’s vision for His disciples remains the same.

Power is still received through the Holy Spirit.

We are expected to be witnesses.

Vision is

The vision and mission Luke wrote about began with Jesus teaching.

Instruction came through the Holy Spirit

During His incarnation Jesus was fully dependent upon God the Father and the Holy Spirit.

His mission on earth was to live a life of perfect submission and obedience.

Scholars identify the Gospel of Luke as describing Jesus as the perfect man.

Vision goal #1.

Calvary Independent Church will be known as a church who communications come through the Holy Spirit.

Jesus gave proof that He was alive over 40 days

He spoke of the Kingdom of God

Vision goal #2.

Calvary Independent Church life will be defined by the Kingdom of God.

It is our goal to live and preach the kingdom

A command was given Do not leave Jerusalem Wait for the gift promised by the Father

Vision goal #3.

Calvary Independent will be known as a church who waits on the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Reason: you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit

Vision goal #4.

Calvary Independent church is immersed in the Holy Spirit.

Question: When are you going to restore the Kingdom of Israel (Reveals vision) The hoped for the kingdom of Israel

The question of God's timing was not important and not revealed

Vision goal #5 Our faith leaves the unknown things of God to God.

Vision: You will receive power

The power will come through the Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit will come on you Then, you will be my witnesses Location: in Jerusalem, in all Judea, and in Samaria, and then to the ends of the earth.

Vision summary: Calvary Independent’s power comes through the Holy Spirit!

Calvary Independent will be a witness for the Kingdom of God to the ends of the earth!

What can we learn about vision?

Jesus Christ established the vision for the disciples.

The vision included a command for an immediate response.

Do not leave but wait for the Father's gift.

A time frame was given for the waiting period, "in a few days."

They were to expect a baptism with the Holy Spirit.

Power would come with the Holy Spirit

Vision: what those in the ministry would like it to become.
