Peter is approaching the end of his life. He is ok with being forgotten, but he does not wan the commands of God or the precious promises of God forgotten. So he writes to remind and to maintain the authority of the Scriptures when it comes to speaking about the 2nd coming of Jesus. He wants to motivate God’s people to be faithful and not fall prey to false teachers.
