All Scripture is God Breathed

How do we know that the Bible we have is complete?

Old Testament

Self claiming to be God’s word. Exodus 31:18
xodus 31:18
Exodus 31
Exodus 31:18 NASB95
When He had finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, He gave Moses the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of God.
2. Authorship - Old Testament was written by prophets that heard from God. Moses wrote the first wrote the first 5 books of the Bible. Joshua wrote His book after taking leadership when Moses died. The rest of the old Testament is believed to be written by the Major prophets (Samuel, Jeremiah, Isaiah) and minor prophets
3. History - The Historical accuracy proven by archeological digs and writers outside the Bible. Melito, bishop of Sardis, gives us a complete list of the old testament books in AD 170 It excludes Ester, In AD 367 Athanasius, bishop of Alexandria gave us a list of the OT books excluding Ester.  The church councils of Hippo (a.d. 393) and Carthage (a.d. 397) affirmed Esther's place in the Christian Bible (basically the church accepted the Hebrew canon).
4. They are quoted by in the New Testament 295 times.
5. Consistency - they are consistent with the rest of the Scriptures.

New Testament

Authorship - All apostle except Mark, Luke, Acts, Hebrews and Jude.
Mark was a disciple of Peter and Luke was a disciple of Paul and Jude was a disciple of James . Hebrews is suspected to be written by Paul
2. Holy Spirit Inspired them to write the words of God
John 16:12–15 NASB95
“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. “He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. “All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.
John 16
The Holy Spirit also convinces the reader that the Scriptures are God Inspired
3. History - In AD 367 Athanasius, bishop of Alexandria gave us a complete list of the 27 NT books. In 397 AD the Council of Carthage confirmed the completion of the Bible
4. God Himself - God has preserved the Scriptures as He has intended and given warning about adding to or taking away from the cannon of scripture
The Cannon of Scripture is inspired by God and is complete. When we open the Word of God we hear the voice of God because these are the words of God.

Scripture Is Profitable For Teaching, Reproof, Correction, and Training In Righteousness

Teaching

Teaching - Didaskalia
teaching (activity) n. — the activities of educating or instructing; activities that impart knowledge or skill.
Teaching is showing what is right. The Bible teaches people what is right and how to understand right doctrine. It shows that God is loving and judging. He loves us so much that He sent His Son to pay the penalty for our sins and redeem us. He Judges those who reject His Son. The only way to heaven is through Jesus. You cannot get their through Allah Muslim, Buddism, Eastern Mysticism, Universalism, Hinduism, Mormonism. None of these are right.

Reproof

Reproof - elegmos
rebuke n. — an act or expression of criticism and censure.
Showing what is not right. The Bible clearly shows what sin is.
Exodus 20:1–17 NASB95
Then God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. “You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain. “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. “Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. “For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy. “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you. “You shall not murder. “You shall not commit adultery. “You shall not steal. “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
Exodus
Jesus elaborates further on sin in the Sermon on the mount.

Correction

correction - epanorthosis
correction n. — the act of offering an improvement (according to a standard) to replace a mistake.
Showing how to get right.
Acts 3:19 NASB95
“Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;
Repentance is turning from sin and to Jesus.
Ephesians 4:25–32 NASB95
Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity. He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need. Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Training in Righeousness

Training - paideia
instruction upbringing n. — the whole education and instruction of a disciple (both the cultivation of mind and morals); understood as the rearing and education of children.
How to stay right
1 Timothy 4:16 NASB95
Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.
James 1:12 NASB95
Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
Obedience to the Lord is the way one stays in a path of righteousness.

Man of God is Adequate, Equipped For Every Good Work.

Adequate - Artios
fitted out adjs. — furnished or equipped with every necessary component (for a task or purpose).
Equipped - exartizo
to be fitted out v. — to be or become furnished or equipped with every necessary component for a task.
Studying the Scriptures completes the man so He can finish the Work God has called Him to. A person must be complete in their soul and spirit before they can complete the task God has for them. The Scriptures are the words that transform and conform the man into the vessel He needs to be in order to be the tool God uses to perfect His will. Once we have been shaped by God’s word, He can use us to do the job necessary. Example of using stubby socket set to try to change a lawn mower blade. The tool was not adequate to equip me to complete the task of changing the blade. So it is with the word of God. It makes us into the tool necessary for God to accomplish His task.
