I) Introduction

Illustration - 30 days to live
John jumps straight in
No salutation
No introduction
God is here now - not off in outer space somewhere
He loves His children and wants what is best for them.
SO HE GAVE US HIS SON AS THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL TIMES.

II) Jesus Christ has always existed. (V. 1)

This is what is meant by “that which is from the beginning”
Jesus existed before the world
He is the essence of life
He is the energy and force of life
(NKJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

III) Jesus Christ has proven who He IS

By partaking of human flesh
(NKJV)
14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
by becoming a man
by letting people hear, see, and touch Him
John and believers “heard” the Son of God.
John and believers “saw” the Son of God and what He could do!
John wanted us to know He was not a ghost, spirit or dream.
John and believers “looked upon” The Son of God.
Looked upon means to stare, study, and understand who and what Jesus was.
A person cannot become a true believer by glancing at Him.
He is real!
(NKJV)
16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.
By becoming the WORD of God!

IV) Jesus Christ gave us the greatest Revelation. (V. 2-3)

(NKJV)
16 Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
17 If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
Jesus IS the Word of God!
In the life of Jesus
God was speaking to the world.
Jesus is the picture, the expression, the pattern, and the very image of God.
Jesus is the Word of Life!
His life, tells man how to live!
Jesus showed us that life is God and God alone.
Jesus identified with man
He became us to know us

V) Jesus Christ came for the Greatest Purpose.

He came that man could have fellowship with God.
This shows that God is close
He is always available to us.
He shows us that we can know God personally
that we can
be acceptable to Him
relate to Him
throw our problems on Him
trust in Him
Get strength from Him
gives us love and peace
receive deliverance from Him
receive eternal life from Him

VI) Jesus Christ preached the Greatest message.

God is light
by nature and character
dwells in brilliant light
(NKJV)
23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
(NKJV)
5 There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.
There is no darkness in God
Different in that darkness is evil and sinful
darkness is ignorance of God
