As William Graham Cole puts it in one of his books, “Stolen goods can be returned, or compensated for, lies can be retracted and corrected, covetousness can be overcome.  Even idolatry can be undone and forgiven.  But the sex act once committed with another person cannot be undone.  The inter-personal relationship has undergone a radical change, and the couple concerned can never return to where they were before.  Something indelible has stamped them both.”

“What does this mean?  It means that sex is an area where you can’t afford to be casual or careless, an area where if you have any wisdom at all you will look and look and look again before you leap.”
