Today we are starting a new series in the book of Nehemiah.
As we walk through this wonderful book one the many things we will consider is priorities, especially our own.
Willingness
Willingness
Willingness is an attribute that comes with character.
As you know we have spoken a great deal about Christian character, and all that it takes.
Did you know that God more readily uses those who are willing to be used of Him?
So if you have ever wondered why God does not use you in a lot of situations you find yourself in, it is likely that you are not willing or ready to be used.
Nehemiah was a man who was ready and willing to be used.
Please stand with me as I read
The words of Nehemiah son of Hacaliah:
During the month of Chislev in the twentieth year, when I was in the fortress city of Susa, Hanani, one of my brothers, arrived with men from Judah, and I questioned them about Jerusalem and the Jewish remnant that had survived the exile. They said to me, “The remnant in the province, who survived the exile, are in great trouble and disgrace. Jerusalem’s wall has been broken down, and its gates have been burned.”

Nehemiah takes place during the end of the post exile era
VS 1.
Nehemiah is mentioned as the son of Hacaliah.
This is only for the purpose of recognition.
In the Book of Ezra there is a mention of Nehemiah and again in the Book of Nehemiah there is another mention, but both are different from the Nehemiah who wrote this account.
The setting starts in the month of Chislev which is our November and December.
In the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes.
In the Persian capitol of Susa.

What is happening?
This is the type of question that someone who is willing to be used of the Lord would ask, what is happening?
What a question.
In today’s time we rarely if ever take the time to ask what is happening.
We see people we ask how they are doing, but we are usually just being polite and don’t really care.
Well they know that you don’t really care, and they don’t really care, so the niceties are spoken and everyone moves on.

Usually when we ask the right questions we find that the correct answers can be dim.
Conclusion:
You cannot live your life with your head in the sand.
You have to ask the hard questions, the right questions, and you need to be prepared for the real answers.
Are you asking the right questions?
Are willing to respond to the answer?
