Let’s Get Engaged

Why do we walk across the room? I believe that is the starting point of evangelism. It’s the why before the how.
The why creates the passion to get up and walk. To move past excuses and personal insecurities.
Other wise, why would we would we move past our own comfort to get up and walk across the room to people we barely know?
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Why do we walk across the room?
LETS GET ENGAGED
Its not about christian obligation or getting a business card that says Evangelist so and so.
You can work on the how all you like…study for years on the different methods of evangelism and never do anything with it. Its the WHY that motivates us to reach out..
The why has got to work it’s way into our heart.

This world is Yours My God this world is Yours All You made to be Yours I know You love us all
John 3:16
Psalm 139:13–18 NKJV
13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. 17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
1 John 4:9–11 NKJV
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
Isaiah 49:15–16 NKJV
15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. 16 See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.
Isaiah 49:15–17 NKJV
15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. 16 See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me. 17 Your sons shall make haste; Your destroyers and those who laid you waste Shall go away from you.
Isaiah 49
- Jesus will leave the ninety nine for the one! He and all of heaven rejoices over just one!
Why do we walk across the room
Isaiah 49
Somewhere between here (creation) & death people are waiting to know. They either have never known or not fully understood Gods love for them.
Reality is that people are dying every day and going to Hell. - Life is short
Let’s Get Engaged
Somewhere between here (creation) & death people are waiting to know. They either have never known or not fully understood Gods love for them.
According to the organisers of Vision Global Outreach Day, held on the last day of May each year - 93 % of church members never share the Gospel with others
That leaves 7%.........7%!!!
Church its time to get engaged!

Lets Pray

We need to get engaged! Engagement is more than a token hello, a smile or a fleeting gesture..engagement is participating, involving, its deciding to commit to another persons story.
We are the salt of He earth..what good is a lamp hidden under a bushel?
Matthew 5:13–16 NKJV
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:11–16 NKJV
11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. 13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. This is Jesus came to do
Luke 19:10 NKJV
10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Luke 19:10
Isaiah 61:1 NKJV
1 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

Influence because of engagement - just like the cog on my bike - engagement causes results - a cog won’t move unless it engages with another moving force. Engagement acts on the inertia of others

Usually the Holy Spirit will design this fit..devine connections
Engagement acts on the inertia of others - Physics - a tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged.
When we engage we have an effect on the course of others lives
Newton's first law of motion states that "An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by another force." ... This tendency to resist changes in their state of motion is described as inertia.

Thats why relationships are so important! Relationship and the gospel are life changers!
Jesus engaged to move others to freedom, when others walked past… actually the Pharisees and religious leaders looked down on Jesus hanging with the what they saw as undesirables and the lowly. But the love of God compelled Jesus to engage with those who needed salvation and healing. Jesus knew the power of engagement!
Jesus parable to the lawyer
Luke 10:25–37 NKJV
25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it? 27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” 29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” 37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
Sometimes people just need someone to take the time to engage with them, in their mess and personal situations to help them move from a place where they seem stuck, to the perfect plan God has for their life.
