4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Christian faith is not spiritual gullibility.
Three ways of discernment:
Observe a person’s doctrine.
Observe a person’s conduct (actions).
The gift of spiritual discernment.
Important: False prophets and teachers exist—they claim to speak for God but are actually speaking by demonic influences.
The the age of “tolerance” discernment can be viewed as being judgmental.
24 Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

14 that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.
