We need to discover the God of the Bible

And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

The New King James Version. (1982). (). Nashville: Thomas Nelson.

Most people

The Jehovah's Witnesses have a Jesus
The Mormons have a Jesus
So does the Islamist, Christian Scientist, and half of the country music industry.
In fact I know a know a guy named Jesus.
But what matters is not that you have “a” Jesus, but rather do you know “the” Jesus
And because we do not talk about who God really is and talk about the Jesus of the Bible we hear people say all sorts of foolish things, “They excepted Him as savior, but did not except Him as Lord.”
The only kind of faith that saves, is the kind of faith that trusts God with their life.

15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.

There is an ever present temptation to

Do Not Demote God

Do NOT puts limitations on Him

God can do whatever God wants to do!

3 But our God is in heaven;

He does whatever He pleases.

Well that is heaven, but how about earth.

6 Whatever the LORD pleases He does,

In heaven and in earth,

In the seas and in all deep places.

God is the Ultimate Authority

39 ‘Now see that I, even I, am He,

And there is no God besides Me;

I kill and I make alive;

I wound and I heal;

Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand.

Well that was the Old Testament God...
I would like to remind you, Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11)
And how about king Herod ()
— I have a lot less problem with God killing than I do with God not killing people
God sees all things

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

—> God sees the future, you don’t get much more all knowing than that
—> God saw Judas coming before he was born and God knew that Judas was and to betray him
God Knows All Things

5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;

His understanding is infinite.

God needs no advise

24 God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. 25 Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.

God lacks nothing

9 I will not take a bull from your house,

Nor goats out of your folds.

10 For every beast of the forest is Mine,

And the cattle on a thousand hills.

11 I know all the birds of the mountains,

And the wild beasts of the field are Mine.

12 “If I were hungry, I would not tell you;

For the world is Mine, and all its fullness.

Do NOT demote Jesus

Jesus was God, He never stopped being God and the whole reason why redemption worked was because Jesus was God -the infinite value of His divine life

8 But to the Son He says:

“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;

A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.

9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;

Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You

With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”

5 For to which of the angels did He ever say:

“You are My Son,

Today I have begotten You”?

And again:

“I will be to Him a Father,

And He shall be to Me a Son”?

6 But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says:

“Let all the angels of God worship Him.”

7 And of the angels He says:

“Who makes His angels spirits

And His ministers a flame of fire.”

8 But to the Son He says:

“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;

A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.

Jesus walked in absolute victory

32 Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Do NOT demote the Holy Spirit

The Spirit Speaks

28 “Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29 but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”

The Spirit Leads
The Spirit Teaches

The Ultimate Temptation is to Elevate self

the original sin

4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

the temptation is to take God off the throne and put man on the throne
All our motives must be centered around God
why do we witness? Because Jesus died
God buries the workman, but the work goes on, you got 70 to 80 years
We are a love slave of Jesus -do not dimension what God has done for you
Remember who you are before Christ, before the Angel of the Lord blessed Jacob, he asked, “what is your name”
We were the thief on the cross, with no other recourse, no other hope, with nothing else that could save,
and Jesus looks over at us and says, today you will be with me in paradise

12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

(verse he gives power to become sons)
we are adopted

15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

(verse in this earthen vessel)

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

it is what is in you
