Ephesians 4:4–7 ESV
There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
God is.
-Paul is not debating or arguing, but stating facts
Genesis 1:1 ESV
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Exodus 3:14 ESV
God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ ”
a. regardless of our belief.
b. Our belief doesn’t change God, but changes us.
2. One body, One Spirit, One Baptism
a. Universal Church
b. The Church cannot exist apart from the Spirit
James 2:26 ESV
For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

3. One Hope, One Lord, One Faith
a. Our hope is Jesus Christ
John 14:6 ESV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
-We receive joy, truth, salvation, forgiveness, etc. but these are the result of knowing Christ.
-If we pursue joy, peace, or forgiveness, we struggle to find them. When we pursue God we find all of them.
Matthew 6:33 ESV
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
-This hope is why people will give everything for Christ, because there is no hope without Him.
b. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the result of faith.
-In the end, a denominational label will not matter. What matters is personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
4. God is sovereign in everything.
-God is in control
Philippians 2:10–11 ESV
so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
a. Creation reveals God.
-Since God is evident in nature, that calls us to be good stewards.
Genesis 1:
Genesis 1:28 ESV
And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
b. All people are created in the image of God.
Romans 1:20 ESV
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
-All things are given because of God’s grace
-He didn’t have to create, but graciously choose to create.
