6 Up! Up! Flee from the land of the north, declares the Lord. For I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, declares the Lord.
7 Up! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.
8 For thus said the Lord of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye:
9 “Behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me.
10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the Lord.
11 And many nations shall join themselves to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.
12 And the Lord will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.”
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

REPENT AND SIN NO MORE!
A delightful humorous story fits well here:
Randy, the painter, often thinned his paint to make it go further. The Catholic Church decided to restore its biggest building on the property. Randy put in a low bid and got the job. He bought the paint, and, yes, thinned it with turpentine.
Well, Randy was painting away, the job nearly completed, when suddenly there was a clap of thunder. The sky opened, and the rain poured down. It washed the thinned paint off the church. Randy fell from the scaffold, landing among the gravestones. He concluded that this was a judgment from the almighty.
Randy raised his voice to the heavens, crying, “Oh, God, forgive me; what should I do?” And from above, a mighty voice roared: “Repaint! Repaint! And thin no more!“
We have all found ourselves in that place of disobedience at one time or another. However, often times we try and minimize the offence instead of responding like Randy did.
Please forgive me, and what should I do?
This morning we are going to be looking at the topic of repentance, and instead of referring to it as one of those nasty words we don’t want to say, we need to embrace it, seeing the healing and restoration that will occur as we say, please forgive me, and what should I do?
For our Bible context we can look at the children of Israel. At one point they spent 70 years in captivity in Babylon because of their disobedience to God.
