Good News!
Good News!
Good News, faith, fulfillment brings response (obedience)and a new walk with eyes looking forward and upward. Knowing all this, what do we do with it today?
So you heard the Good News (Heb4:2)
2 For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard.
The Good News came by hearing and brought faith (Rom10:17)
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
Good News brought faith, which brought obedience (Act2:37-38)
37 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?” 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Obedience caused you to be born again (Jn3:5)
5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Being born again brings you to walk in love (2Jn1:6)
6 And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.
How do we know all this came about? Because Jesus is the fulfillment of Isa61:1-2
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners; 2 To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn,
and since we know that is fulfilled we know He is faithful and we have our final fulfillment one day (Php1:6)
6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
WHAT DO WE DO WITH THE GOOD NEWS?
Oh we know the Good News, but do we know, do we understand beyond the basics? And if we do, what do we do with it?
Here is what we can know beyond the basics and some things to ponder on tonight

We can know: No fear!
We can know: No fear!
For those who know and walk in the proclamations of the Good News can walk without fear.
17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
19 We love, because He first loved us.

Fear faces punishment; our punishment has been removed (Isa53:6)
6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.

Question: What does a fearless life look like IN YOU?
We can know: Death has no hold on us
We can know: Death has no hold on us
To the one who has the Good News, believed the Good News, obeyed the Good News has no reason to fear for death has no hold, or mastery over them.
Rom6:
4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,
6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for he who has died is freed from sin.
8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him.
We have been buried, we have been resurrected (v.4)
We know the body of sin has been done away with (v.6)
We know we can live for Him (v.8)
All this meaning death no longer has mastery over us (v.9)
Question: Are you living, walking and sharing a resurrected life with others?

Know the Good News leads to no cause for fear. That reminds us that death has no mastery over us and that then Jesus leads us in triumphant victory!

14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. 15 For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing;
Let me start this one with the question
Question: Are we a sweet aroma, do we have a sweet aroma to others?
God leads us in triumph in Christ (v.14)
We are a sweet aroma through knowledge (v.14)
A sweet aroma to God of Christ (v.15)
We need to stay in context here for there is bad news here to.
15 For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; 16 to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things?
The apostles rose up knowing who they were, because of the Good News. They proclaimed it in the sight of God!
17 For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.
So, again, do we have a sweet aroma?
The sweet aroma comes from our knowledge (Php4:19)
19 And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
All our needs caught up in the all in all who gave all for us to have all.
IV. We can know: There is no condemnation
IV. We can know: There is no condemnation
Are you getting the jest of all this? That the Good News is more than just a proclamation? It brings Faith, knowledge, no fear, in which death cannot have mastery over us, and we have our victory as well as knowing we have all things in the One who gave it all to be our all in all.
1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
No condemnation, we are justified, forgiven, restored, reconciled
Know this even when we fall short (Rom3:23)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
when we know we have no condemnation, don’t we want to share that freedom with others? knowing we have our hope restored.
Hope restored (Rom5:5) (also used Rom8:1-9)
5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
But again, needed to build on this by keeping it all in context let me back up
1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,
4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, 7 because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,
8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom8:6-7
More than a proclamation it brings about a new mind set.
A mindset not on the things of the flesh (v.5)
A mindset on the things of the Spirit (v.5)
A mindset on the Spirit is life and peace (v.6)
A mindset that is not on the flesh and hostile towards God (v.7)
A mindset not on the flesh that cannot please God (v.8)
9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
This is who you are if you are in Christ, you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit who dwells in you!
Question: So knowing this, wouldn’t you want to share this with others? Being condemnation free!
V. We know: We are healed
V. We know: We are healed
5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.
Christ took on our penalty, so there would be Good News for us to believe, to obey, to walk in with the truths we have covered tonight thus far.
Even if we don’t see the healing, doesn’t mean it isn’t true
Just because you may not feel it; doesn’t make it not so.
For we know; God cannot life (Tit1:2)
1 Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,

but that is not fully in context so that is not right, let me press on
3 but at the proper time manifested, even His word, in the proclamation with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior, 4 To Titus, my true child in a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
Notice what it says in (v.4) grace and peace! and we can know that peace prevails
27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
Peace that takes away a troubled heart; and a fearful mind. Peace that transcends all comprehension
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
It will guard your heart, and it will guard your mind.
All this leading us to the reason Christ Came
24 “Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.
We know the thief’s plan, but Christ had a better plan
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
So, is the Gospel, the Good New more than just a proclamation?

Practical Christianity is knowing the life we have in Him; the One who died for the whosoever believes in Him! And putting that person to work for the glory of God to carry out the work of God.
