Take Heed
We are hearing a lot these days about the end of time, about the return of Christ or as in the Scripture the “Parousia”
Parousia is a term of expectation!
Is used mostly with the assurance that when God appears deliverance is with Him!
As we travel speedily into the last days, we have a sure source of guidance so we not be miss led by the popular voices
It is the prophetic Word of God
Confirmed - of something that can be relied upon; a place of unshifting stability; An anchor; Having continuity and consistency; Maintaining solidity - standing on both feet.
In terms of inner stability - sure, steadfast, certain
The end times are not to be feared but to bring assurance once again that God is in control
Now in the book of Revelation we are given a promice
The word revelation s from the Greek - Revelatio - the act of revealing; it actually is the word apokalypsis - to uncover, to cause something to be fully known, to revel or disclose
It is important to to point out the true apokalypsis is an investigation done without presupposition!
Revelation is given by the revelator!
As in our case by God Himself
It is important to lay down from the beginning that the Prophecies and revelation about them belong to the Holy Spirit
Many men have ideas and thoughts but the truth remains with Him!
Many come at the End-times issues wanting to prove their point and are not open to see the reality of the truth thereby creating confusion for the sheep
The problems begin when we interject the word “literally” into our conversation and discussions yes vs: no
This creates a dangerous condition in that one could appear to be but not really!
It is the foundation of our study that affirms that God’s Word is authoritative and final
When it comes to the prophecies and predictions they are literal and true
Peter affirms that these things which concern the end of days were not tales made up -Muthos - myths or fables - untrue stories - unsubstantiated thoughts
He backs up his statement with an eyewitness account
Paul warned that a day was coming when people would turn from the truth to fables
It is interesting to me that this word caries the root word Muo - meaning to close the eyes
As we begin to look at the prophecies concerning His coming, let us clear our minds or presupposition and unsubstantiated stories and pray for the guidence of the Holy Spirit
