Why Fast Corporately, and What Can We Expect?

Pastor Jim Langlois

Review - Why Fast, and What Can We Expect?

(Remember – testimony from Brenda)

Because Jesus did, He told us how, He said we would, and He said we should!

Jesus did:

Luke 4:2 (NKJV)
being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing,

He told us how:

Matthew 6:16-18 (NKJV)
“Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
so that you do not appear to men to be fasting

He said we would:

Matthew 9:15 (NKJV)
But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

He said we should:

Matthew 17:20-21 (NKJV)
I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

What can we expect? New Wine!

Luke 5:37-38 (NKJV)
37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined.
38 But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved.

Jeremiah 23:1-6

Matthew 16:19 says that the keys (authority) to the kingdom allow us to bind and Loose, which is prayer!

King David is most well known for his heart of Prayer, Praise and Worship, and Authority

When I asked the Lord what the Key of David was, He stated that it was prayer and praise in the authority in the Name of Jesus.

David was a man after God’s own heart – a man of prayer, repentance, humility, praise, worship, & authority

Acts 13:22 (NKJV)
22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.
