TS:
God: exists in the three person of the trinity
Revealed Himself through His word
Created a perfect world which allowed freedom of choice
Humans chose sin and they and all creation fell
Humans are born with a sin nature and all sin
God saves humans by His grace through their faith
Tonight, we follow through on that by seeing that God keeps us saved!
RS: Some have abandoned this doctrine. They believe they can lose their salvation. I’m grateful that GOD both saves and keeps us saved.

All believers are eternally secure in Jesus Christ (; ).

John 10:24–30 ESV
24 So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.” 25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name bear witness about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
What keeps us saved in this text? In whose hands are we held?
He gives eternal life
They will never perish
No one will snatch them from His hand
Father is greater and no one CAN snatch them out of His hand.
Romans 8:35–39 ESV
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What place or circumstance causes God to quit loving us?
NOTHING
We are more than conquerors

They are born again (; ; ),

John 3:3–5 ESV
3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Born of the Spirit
We have a new life
1 John 5:1 ESV
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him.

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
In Christ:
new creation
Recreated in Christ and His image
Old has passed and new has come
Old- depravity
New- born again, new lift
2 Peter 1:4 ESV
4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
We become partakers of divine nature

and indwelt by the Holy Spirit (; ),

Romans 8:9 ESV
9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
We have the spirit within us
If you don’t have the indwelling of the Spirit, what does Paul say about your spiritual condition?
No Spirit you don’t belong to Christ
This verse clearly demonstrates that the idea of a baptism in the Spirit at some later date other than at salvation is false.
You are not saved without the Spirit!
1 John 4:4 ESV
4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Ephesians 2:10 ESV

A special providence watches over them (; ), and they are kept by the power of God (; , ; ; ).

1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV
13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV
13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
This is part of why we can’t lose our salvation
God won’t allow us to get to that point!
He provides us an escape hatch
