Intro:
Flash Background of the Series:
When we started the series: Iayos mo…
We are done with the book of Ezra
Nehemiah
Cup bearer to the King
Ngunit kayo'y walang bahagi, karapatan o alaala man sa Jerusalem.”
An important conviction was declared by Nehemiah.
VICTORY COMES FROM GOD
This is why it makes sense for his to pursue the plan of God (to help in the rebuilding of the walls) in his life.
He left his place in the King’s palace and made himself available for the plan of God.
This is why HE is passionate for the plans of God.
This is why He dedicated himself in prayer before taking action.
But the Victory/Prosperity that Nehemiah pointed out in his conviction is calling the people of God to rise and build the walls of Jerusalem.
GODLY CONVICTION + ACTION = SUCCESS/VICTORY
Action is what we will see in .
(I will not read the passages, it is quite long and will highlight few verses and note important observations)
(Show the picture)
While achieving victory/success from God, here are few observations from .
While achieving victory/success from God, here are few observations from .
Different tasks to fulfill one goal.
Each families has different assignments to fulfill.
Some are working to rebuild the gates and some are repairing sections of the wall.
:
Where is Nehemiah in all these?
Nehemiah is the one probably assigned the work and making sure that they are progressing in the work.
Take note, in the previous chapter, he is the one who inspected the walls and noticed where the repairs are needed.
Different tasks to fulfill one goal
Reflected in various illustrations
In Sports;
— Basketball positions - PG, SG, SF, PF, C
— Baseball, fielders
----- When we were in elementary, the three fielders are running to catch one ball, they did not catch it...
In Music:
— Choir
— Band
What is the point?
Each one has a task that he can fulfill to glorify God and to be used by God…
Different Status working together for one goal
First, we have the priests
They serve the temple, men with special status in the community but they are the ones who first answered the call to build the wall.
Next we have leaders of the land… the politicians...
Neh 3:
We even see the daughters of Shallum.
We even see the daughters
The district leaders are normally the one who give orders and have servants to do work for them, yet they joined the work in building the wall of Jerusalem.
Then, we have the businessmen… those who has the money...
Neh 3:8
These Goldsmiths and perfumers and Merchants...
Mostly, for these men, it is about the price but here they are, working for free...
What is the point?
Whatever achievement you attained, or no matter how little was your accomplishment, you can offer your life and service to God.
Different Workloads but the same gladness
This is quite challenging because it is easy to think: “It is not fair”.
Since our childhood, we want things to be fair, or if we are honest, we want things to be in our favor.
In chapter 3, we see people doing different tasks and some are simple and others are doing more difficult task.
some are building gates, some are repairing walls.
some are rep
Some are working in the uphill and some are working in turns...
If they are assigned on walls on a flat area, that is easier but if they are assigned to work on uphill or turns, that is harder.
Some are even assigned double (maybe they are fast)
What is the point?
What is our reaction when we are given the easy task?
How about the hard task?
are we going to push away the hard task?
Even though there are work that is hard, someone still needs to do it?
If we are into pushing the hard tasks, others might also want to push away the hard tasks.
Then, if that is the case, the goal will not be complete.
Remember that we are serving the same God and he is our Master...
Parable of the Talents:
Master gave 5 talents, 2 talents, 1 talent according to his ability.
Not everything is perfect.
Not everyone joined the cause...
The nobles of the Tekoites don’t want to work
But these group, the ones that is working wasn’t affected bu those that doesn’t want to participate.
They even did more work.
When there is little participation, we usually are affected and discouraged… When some people that are higher than us, do something that is wrong, we reason, I can also do that...
Let us be like those Tekoites that worked for the glory of God...
Conclusion
Are you going to join and take action
Victory comes from God…
But what will you do?
Iayos mo?
In our life?
Are we going to take action?
We have a project in the church… will you join?
We want to establish more small groups and together grow in our spiritual lives… will you join?
In fixing things in our life, are you willing to do the hard tasks?
you have encouragement and support from fellow believers, but are you willing to do the hard tasks?
