Introduction
Last week, we had a difficult discussion on what is the church and why it is important as a Christian to be involved in the local church.
And I know it probably was a little difficult for us to hear, but I think it is needed for us to grow in our faiths and our faith in Christ.
Because God never intended you to live a private faith, but faith in Christ is done in community with other family members in Christ.
So we found out last week how the Church is described in the Bible.
For the next two weeks we are going to look at what makes a Church a Church and not just a gathering of believers.
So let’s ask this question.
What is the difference between a group of believers like this one and the Church?
God
There are two major differences.
One is that the church practices on a regular basis two ordinances, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Both of these were given by Christ as symbols to remember his death and resurrection and were given to the church as symbols to use in worshipping God.
