John 14:16 ESV
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
John 14:16
The question is not: Do I have all of the Holy Spirit? The question is: Does the Holy Spirit have all of me?
The
TIB1: There is a God. There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
TIB2: We Serve a Mighty Savior. Jesus Christ is the true God and the true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust, as a substitutionary sacrifice, and all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.
The
He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures. He is now at the right hand of Majesty on high as our great High Priest. He will come again to establish His kingdom, righteousness and peace.
TIB3: You’re Not Alone. The Holy Spirit is a divine person, sent to indwell, guide, teach, empower the believer, and convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.
"What's up with God?" God is an old man sitting on a cloud. Jesus is some hippie white dude in a robe and sandals. The Holy Spirit is some kind of supernatural power that makes people do crazy things. WRONG. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Wrong. How many ways can I remind you that there are a lot of wrong views of who God is and what He is like.  There is one true and living God, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three PERSONS. These three persons were invisible Spirits. But there presence and power were real.  One of them, Jesus, would temporarily appear in human form as a man and walk with Adam and Eve, wrestle with Jacob, or appear on a throne to Isaiah. And then he did it. He permanently added flesh to His deity by coming to earth as a newborn baby. Jesus is the God Man. Perfect God. Perfect man. Jesus the perfect sacrifice. This week we are going to talk about God as He exists in the person of the Holy Spirit. There's a lot of crazy teaching out there. But one thing I'd like you to think about is this: "The question is not, Do I have all of the Holy Spirit? The question is, Does the Holy Spirit have all of me?"

(1) The Holy Spirit is a divine person, sent to indwell,
John 14:15–18 ESV
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
(2) Guide, teach, empower the believer,
(2) Sent to indwell, guide, teach, empower the believer
John 16:13 ESV
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
(3) And convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.
Acts 1:8 ESV
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
(3) And convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.
John 16:7–11 ESV
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
How can the Holy Spirit have more of me?
John 16:
Don’t lie to the Holy Spirit -
Acts 5:3–4 ESV
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.”
Don’t replace the Holy Spirit - Ephesians 5:18
Ephesians 5:18 ESV
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
Intimacy with God, intimacy with another person, the danger of pornography
Obey the Holy Spirit -
Galatians 5:16–17 ESV
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
