Introduction
Last week we had a conversation about the ability to play the hand that we have been dealt.
Here is the other side of the coin, everybody everywhere needs help sometimes.
No matter how strong you perceive yourself to be, how smart or how much money you have we all need help sometimes.
Let’s take a trip back to Ruth in verse number 2 of chapter 2, and Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, Please let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain after one in whose sight I may find favor.
Naomi knew that she needed help, but in Ruth’s help of Naomi Boaz also noticed that she needed help as well.
Listen, everyone on earth has needed help at one time or another, there is nothing wrong with getting help because understand that you need it.
Many of our sisters are mothers, gainfully employed inside and outside of the home.
Pride gets in the way of us asking and receiving the help that we need.
Be mindful that the help you need and the help you may want are two different things.
Naomi needed Ruth, Ruth needed Naomi, Boaz and Ruth needed each other.
Sometimes People Are Helping You and You Do Not Even Know It.
“Ruth, so happened to come to the portion of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech”.
God always looks out, she could have wondered on any field but she just so happened to wander onto the field of her father in law’s family.
How many times have you just ran into somebody who knew somebody that just happened to work at the place you just applied.
How many times have you just so happen to run into the right person at the right time when life seemed dark and dreary.
God is already working your problem out and blessing you in the place that you are in right now.
We are so quick to get up and move on when things are working out but sometimes God is asking us to stay put.
There is a blessing in where you are right now.
Boaz provides help in her time of need.
Often times we can do more than we do for people we just choose not to.
Just because that is all people ask for does not mean you cannot bless them with more.
Ruth just asked to glean from the field, Boaz told her to no longer glean from the field but stay with his maids.
If we have to ability to improve someone’s well being why not?
Even the virtuous woman as mentioned in did not try to do it all on her own.
She was a resourceful woman and quite productive but still needed help.
As it states in Kingdom woman, we have this belief that “exhaustion is close to godliness”.
Understand the best way for Satan to use you as an instrument for his glory is to view yourself as this spiritual superhero you were never intended to be.
God is Your Best Help
Even though Ruth was a help to Naomi and Boaz was a help to Ruth.
God is what steered her in that direction.
Your help begins with God but we are thankful that God has put people and resources in our life that sustain us when we feel like he does not hear us.
You are not alone, there is always going to be work to do.
We have adopted this narrative that has preempted us to view career success, financial gain, and educational attainment a part from a family.
Nothing in my live has been more appreciated than the fact that God has allowed me to share these accomplishments with the people that have helped me get there.
Stop leaning on yourself so much, start trusting in God and quit letting your heart and your view of God’s creation get in the way of what he is trying to do in your life.
Understand that the idea of heart in this text means conscience, or seat of emotions and passions.
I imagine Ruth’s needs were different than helping Naomi, I imagine she had wants but she leaned on God for help, and God directed her to help Naomi, and Boaz would not have had the ability to help Ruth!
Conclusion
Praise God, that we have an everlasting help in Jesus.
I lift up my eyes to the hills where do my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
This help is not a handout, this help is a protection.
My protection comes from God, my aid comes from God. Jesus is my protection.
Jesus does not abandon us, God designs you to be even more than you might want to be.
What are you lacking in right now, If any of you lacks wisdom he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
Fear God in all you do, honor him with your thoughts, words, and actions and accept what God is doing in your life.
