Signet Ring

The people know coming to the realization that their hope was misplaced, can find that their obedience in building the temple demonstrated that they were ready to put God first. When they put God first it opened up a world of grace for them.
1 Have you ever had a time were you felt that you were just suffering through some issue ? Can you think back to remember if you were actually putting God first in the situation?
Most of the time when I am struggling with something it is because I didn’t consider God first, never mind put him first in what I was doing.
This last message of Haggai is directed at Zerubbabel, who was in the royal line but not Judah’s king. He represents the kingly line. God reminds the people that much like the rebuilding of the temple, and the restoration of the Jews to their land is a sign of God’s greater promises to the Jews. God wants to give the people hope for the future, redemption delivered to them through the family line - the kingly line.
Now I had to look up what a signet ring was. I knew it typically was worn by royalty and usually had the family crest on it. A signet ring is used as a personal signature or a symbol of family heritage. The Lord is telling the people that they will have their hope fulfilled through the family line.
2 Do you have fears or concerns about making a full commitment to God ? Now look back at times where God made a commitment to you. Do you think that your past commitments have an effect on your commitment today?
3 Close this study with a prayer thanking God for His willingness not only to supply what we need to finish building in our lives, but also His gracious willingness to bless us as we are obedience to Him.
