A LIFE WELL LIVED
Today we are goiing to be talking about dying with grace, dying with dignity.
i I know the subject of tdeath is not one that is comfortable, in fact it is one of the most iuncomfortable subjects that anyone can discuss.
But there has been a recent study released with over 6000 years of data, and the experts have concluded that 10 out of every 10 people die.
but there was a glitch in the data, there was some guy about 2000 years ago that some how beat the odds when he came out of the grave.
But for everyone else, it is most certainly that you and everyone that you know, love or hate will certainly die.
Death is not comfortable, it is not easy, but ignoring it will not make it go away.
Living fast and furiously, wild and reckless will certainly not make it go away, but usher it in closer.
There was a study recently released
I don’t know if you know this or not but there was a conclusive study released that was recently released, that pulled data from over 6000 years human history.
And the study concluded that that 10 out of every 10 people die!
Well there was a glitch in the study.
just a small glitch, nothing to really worry about 2000 years ago when this man reportedly came back from the dead!
But it is almsot certain that you , your momma, your kids and their kids of your great, great grandkids are going to die.
Time is not on our side.
I realize this every Saturday night when i am trying to get a sermon finished!
Death is not an easy subject, but it is a fact of life, that there will be death.
And ignoring the subject will not make it go away.
nobody likes to think about death, well almost no body, I like to think about it often.
Not in a morbid way, but I like to ponder those moments before death.
When I pass from this life onto the next.
What will I see.
I want to have a vision right before I pass of the Lord.
I want my loved ones to be around and have a glimpse of heaven .
I want to stand boldly before the Lord One day and hear well done, good and faithful servant.
When I was first saved, the Lord often gave me these epiphanies or visions of myself, like seeing my self in ultra high def, completely whole, completely healed.
And I believe He did that because he knew that I was going to need that encouragement when I face the trials that have faced.
So all that to say this, you are not ready to live until you are no longer afraid to die.
And there is wisdom in thinking about your day of death, because that is the finish line.
Now that finsih line may be closer than you think but regardless you and I need to be ready for whenever we cross it.
Psalm 39:4
Now here is a revolutionary thought.
Death is actually a mercy from God.
You say well that is just the craziest thing I have ever heard.
Well it may be that doesn’t make it untrue.
You say ok show me that from scripture!
Genesis 3:22-24
You say how was it compassion?
It was compassion because if man had eaten this tree of life, he would have remained in this wretched sin cursed condition for all of eternity.
For those born blind, could you imagine being blind for an eternity.
Could you imagine going through the storms of life for an eternity.
Could you imagine the dictators of the world, the violent men that we see ruling over humans forever!
Death was a mercy, because God had a plan, and that plan involved God’s Son the Lord jesus Christ, who would come die a death that we all deserved but also became out champion because He paved a way through death and hell, and for those in Christ, though they will die, yet they will live.
There is coming a day when the trumpet will sound and the dead in Christ will be ressurected!!
And that tree of Life will be ggiven to the nations
Now I am giving you the end of the story.
The ultimate and perfect plan of Almighty God!
There is going to be healing for the nations.
There is going to be a return to the garden, and no longer will there be any need for faith for we will see God face to face.
I hope that you are there with me.
Not everyone will be there.
Though death is nothing to fear, What the Bible describesas the second death and certainly something to fear.
Revelation 22:1-
Revelation 21:
So today we are going to talk about a Life Well Lived.
And a Dying Grace
A Couple of weeks ago we began to study the Life of Joseph.
And just as a reminder Joeph was the great Grandson of Abraham.
Abraham had Isaace, isaac had Jacob and Jacob had 12 sons, one being Joseph.
Now today we are not going to so much look at the life of Joseph but that of Jacob.
INTRO INTO JACOB.
Jacob was truly a man that was transformed by grace.
Before He came to be born again, he was a liar, a deceiver, a manipulative, scheming type of man.
Like many of the great men of the bible.
He had a past, that was transformed into a glorious future.
And we jump into the eend of the story.
Where Jospehp was mistreated, He was wrongly accused.
He suffered at the hands of the Wicked, Yet God lifted Him up made Him a Saviour to his own people and the entire world.
And now Jacob has been restored to His son Jospeh.
But now the Time has come for Jacob to die.
Genesis 47:28
Genesis 47:28-
There is a time appointed, when you will meet the grave, but listen just in case you are thinking : Man I should have stayed hoem in bed.
Listen this is not a downer message.
It is quite upbeat
What Kids had to say about death:
(1) “Everybody has to die sometime, even if you don’t want to.” (2) “When you die, God takes care of you like your mother did when you were alive, only God doesn’t yell at you all the time.”
(3) “You have to be old before you can die, because God seems to love old people best.”
Isn’t that neat?
Or here’s a good one: (4) “God doesn’t tell you when you’re going to die, because He wants it to be a big surprise.”
Here’s another one; I especially took note of this one: (5) “Only the good people go to heaven; the other people go to where it’s hot all the time, like Florida.”
And then a little child said, (6) “Everyone is scared to die, except the people who are already dead.”
Or here’s one: (7) “A good doctor can help you so that you won’t die.
A bad doctor sends you to heaven.”
(8) “When you die, you don’t have to do homework in heaven, unless your teacher is there too.”
Most of them won’t be there, I thought, when I was a little boy.
Here’s one we all ought to pay attention to: (9) “Grown-ups who smoke die before grown-ups who don’t smoke.
Grown-ups who smoke must be in a hurry to die.”
Amen?
All right, here’s another one, everybody, and this is the last one I want to share.
There were many more.
I selected these, but I just wanted this one to be last, because I think it is so great: (10) “Everyone cries when somebody dies, because they don’t want to be left behind.”
Isn’t that beautiful?
I. Jacob had a Forgiving Lord with Him
Gen 48:
Now Israel and Jacob is one and the same.
So Joseph hears that His Daddy is sick and that he is about to die.
And when Israel gets strength and and told him about when he got saved.
“ God Almighty appeared to bme at Luz in the Land of Canaan and blessed me.
And Jacob gives his testimony of his salvation experience.
