Listen! That is the theme of chapter 48. Listen to God because He is our Master!
And not Listen in one ear and out the other… Listen to Obey
He speaks to sinful people! Which is a wonderful thing! He hasn’t given up on us. He still speaks.
He predicts and it comes to pass! He plans and carries it out. He’s Master
He works for our good and for His Glory! He does what He does for our benefit.
Today we will continue on with the theme of listens to what God has to say.

He Teaches and Treads

Isaiah 48:17 HCSB
This is what the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: I am Yahweh your God, who teaches you for your benefit, who leads you in the way you should go.
God TEACHES. ..He gives instruction. He trains. This is not theology as an abstract concept, this learning God. This is the Lord teaching us what He is like and what He likes. The Bible is a Book that points us to God and to godliness through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s a love letter from our Father, an instruction manual from our creator, and a roadmap from our Savior. Think of the wonder. God desires to instruct you! And notice that everything He instructs us is FOR OUR BENEFIT
God TREADS.. He walks the path with us. He not only tells us, He shows us. He not only commands us to walk for Him, but He walks for us. He holds our hand as we live out our lives.

He Reminds

Isaiah 48:18–19 HCSB
If only you had paid attention to My commands. Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea. Your descendants would have been as countless as the sand, and the offspring of your body like its grains; their name would not be cut off or eliminated from My presence.
If ONLY!!!! Would have been… Could have been ....
Sometimes we do this and its a guilty trip we bring on ourselves.
Sometimes Satan does this and its a temptation to wallow in the shame of our past.
God reminds in this instance because He wants them to see the good things He has planned.
They might have missed this in the past, but it doesn’t have to be that way going forward.
I spoke with a man this week… He had tears in his eyes as he lamented over his wayward adult child… He said… I’d kill the fatted calf if they came home today.
Those words have rung in my heart all week. Words Jesus spoke about the Prodigal Child.
All week long this has crossed my mind, then God reminded me. He is the Father in that story. And WE ARE ALL THE CHILD he has longed to see return.
Don’t miss out on the wonderful things God has for you… IF ONLY!!!
Peace
Rightousness
Blessing

He Orders our Steps

Isaiah 48:20–21 HCSB
Leave Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans! Declare with a shout of joy, proclaim this, let it go out to the end of the earth; announce, “The Lord has redeemed His servant Jacob!” They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts; He made water flow for them from the rock; He split the rock, and water gushed out.
Notice the command to leave Babylon. This would be there home for 70 years of captivity. It would have been all most of them had ever known. Leave behind the old life.
They are redeemed, so depart with shouts of joy.
What is God wanting you to leave behind in order to joyfully follow Him.?

He Warns

Isaiah 48:22 HCSB
“There is no peace for the wicked,” says the Lord.
All that God has reminded, promised and planned, will be missed for the unrepentant wicked.
