Introduction:
What is motherhood? What does it mean to be a mother? These questions are as challenging to answer as they are simple. Yes, to give birth; yes, to adopt children; yes, to have a family. But being a mother is also about much more than that, isn’t it? There’s some large, overwhelming, and beautiful piece at the center of motherhood that is so hard to put words to. It’s a feeling, not an explanation. Maybe that piece is best called love. If so, it is truly a unique love reserved for the mother/child relationship. And when you’ve felt it, you know it.

Since we’re just a few days away from Mother’s Day, we put this question to 18 moms: “What does it mean to be a mother?” The responses we heard were lovely, inspirational, and downright funny! Read them all below.
~~~
“For me, motherhood is seeing the profound value in learning about who your children are, and then encouraging and teaching them to be the best versions of themselves. It is my greatest hope that this acceptance and unconditional love will empower and strengthen my children as well as foster self-confidence and kindness!”
“Motherhood is truly a remarkable gift and a privilege that I hold very close to my heart. To me, being a mother means to be fearless4, to be a positive role model, to be a continuous cheerleader for every milestone my children will experience, to demonstrate the abundance of unconditional love that has no end and to cherish the countless memories that is truly priceless.”
An Older Women’s Behavior - Grandma
These are the older women in the church who are likely beyond their child rearing years. They are likely to be “grandmas” who are now in a position to teach not just from the instruction of scripture, but to pass down what they have learned from life and scripture. For these grandmas there is an expectation of good deportment.
When we think of a grandma this what we think of right? [Insert Picture]
The reality is this was likely written because of an ungodly, drunken and slanderous grandma(s) was on the loose in the church. [Insert Picture]
Older Women
The NET Bible Chapter 2
Older women likewise are to exhibit behavior fitting for those who are holy, not slandering, not slaves to excessive drinking, but teaching what is good. 2:4 In this way4 they will train5 the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children, 2:5 to be self-controlled,6 pure, fulfilling their duties at home,7 kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the message8 of God may not be discredited.9
How they should behave
The word is literally devil or devilish.
The word is used 38 times in the NT and 35 times the KJV translates it “Devil” other 3 are translated either “slanderer” or “false accuser”
(KJV 1900) — 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
not slanderers
One who destroys the reputation of others through deceit or the twisting of truths.
“Essentially doing the work of satan.” MHC
Not enslaved to wine
Enslaved to wine
Alcohol masters/controls the individual.
If we broaden this to prescription drug abuse we get the following statistics: Nearly 48,000 women died of prescription painkiller* overdoses between 1999 and 2010.
Deaths from prescription painkiller overdoses among women have increased more than 400% since 1999, compared to 265% among men.
For every woman who dies of a prescription painkiller overdose, 30 go to the emergency department for painkiller misuse or abuse.
Women ages 45 to 54 have the highest risk of dying from a prescription painkiller overdose.
(KJV 1900) — 18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Teaching good morality
Grandma’s you must be teachers both intentionally and by example.
Teaching must be done with women and children and not exerting authority over men.
The teaching must be chiefly regarding morality. Don’t encourage your children, grandchildren other women to sin.
Often time as a matter of consolatory women will often offer “You go girls”. I just deflated my boss’s tires because he made me work overtime. “You go girl!”
Why is this how grandmas are to behave? So that they can teach the younger women in wisdom
So that they can instruct the younger moms in wisdom.
Your pastor probably isn’t the best one to be taking a young mother out for coffee or having one on one instruction.
Grandmother’s and woman you have a ministry that isn’t suitable nor capable for me to do.
Teaching the Younger Women
Older
I. Older Women
Who are the younger women? They are those of marriageable age whether married or not and likely 15-20years post-menopausal (up to 55-60).
There is an implication that if the older women are to teach the younger then the younger must be willing to listen.
What morally good behavior are the older women to teach the younger?
Love their husbands
The affair: Maybe you've considered it. Maybe you're in it. Today's women are acting on the urge, more than ever before, a new survey reveals. https://www.webmd.com/sex-relationships/features/cheating-wives#1
Another woman shares her story: "I have been the "other woman" for a married man. We used to meet almost every day while she was at work and we would just walk around the park where no one would know. One day ... he told me he had fallen in love with me. ... It remained sexual for about four months. I finally ended the relationship. I felt guilty lying to his wife ... and I wanted a real relationship."
One in five married women has had a fling -- the highest numbers ever recorded, according to one group of researchers. In fact, the numbers of cheating wives now equals the statistics on cheating husbands, according to a study by Tom W. Smith with the National Opinion Research Center.
Love their children
In 2014, 652,639 legal induced abortions were reported to CDC from 49 reporting areas. The abortion rate for 2014 was 12.1 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15–44 years, and the abortion ratio was 186 abortions per 1,000 live births. https://www.cdc.gov/reproductivehealth/data_stats/abortion.htm
In 2016, more than 1,750 children died in the United States from abuse and neglect.According to child protective service agencies, about 676,000 children were victims of child abuse or neglect in 2016, although this number likely underestimates the true occurrence. https://www.cdc.gov/features/healthychildren/index.html
Willing to put under another’s authority.
Not someone else.
So God’s word is not be blasphemed
The word of God is mocked or slandered when men don’t do as they should and women don’t do as they should.
How?
It adds no weight or authority to our preaching. If the gospel doesn’t effect your life then why do I need it?
If mom isn’t managing the home well and we leave the training to others then we may produce un
