Happy Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day!
How important the faith and love of my mother, my grandmothers and my great grandmothers.
I never upset my mother.
I was never late.
I never lied to try to get out of trouble.
It was always my sister’s fault.
A mother’s love never gives up!
A mother’s thoughts
As a mom do you remember bringing home your first child?
When was the moment that you thought, “great, now what?”
A mother prays everyday for her children.
If a mother stops praying, I don’t the age because I’ve never met a mother that was not praying for her children, regardless of her age or the age of her children.
A mother will pray for many things...
school grades
sports
friends
safety
good college
spouse
One prayer trumps all those prayers.
The prayer that your child will know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
That is the only prayer with eternity attached to it.
Do you remember the person who poured into you, sharing the hope of God’s Word with you?
Chances that one of the top people was a women and chances are that one of those women was your mom.
The women that poured into Timothy
Paul starts this letter explaining who He is and what his purpose is.
“an apostle of Christ Jesus”
You are a child of God not whatever other title you may hold (problem with AA)
“by the will of God”
It is God’s will for you to be a follower, an apostle, a child of His.
“keeping with the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus,”
Paul’s purpose is to share the life that only Christ can give.
No one can earn.
2 Timothy 1:2-3
“my dear son...night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.”
much like a mother would do (or any loving parent)
Paul points out Timothy’s heritage of faith.
, lead us to believe that Timothy’s father was not a believer.
Paul points out that Timothy’s faith “first lived in” his grandmother Lois and in his mother Eunice.
Paul is “persuaded” or convinced that that same faith is alive in Timothy.
2 Timothy
Learning that it was Timothy’s mother and grandmother that shared their faith and now we learn that the scriptures were poured into this young man beginning in infancy.
Scripture has the power to bring people to faith.
A mother’s responsibility
Seeing what has happened in Timothy’s life.
I believe we see how vital it is for mother’s to pray for and share scripture with the children in their life.
Pray for all those things that you pray for.
Share your wisdom and guidance that you have gained throughout the years but always remember what is eternal.
A mother’s prayer and a prayer for mothers
Challenge mother’s with children who do not know the Lord to stand and allow us to pray for them and their children.
Pray a blessing for the mothers.
Share the gifts for the mothers.
