He was mobbed in Thessalonica and was driven out of Berea
He was plotted against in Corinth and again plotted against his death after his second epistle
He was almost killed in Ephesus and almost again in jerusalem if not for the Romans.
Imprisoned for 4 years, 2 in Caesarea and 2 in Rome
He had many other beatings, imprisonments, shipwrecks, and many other deprivations and sufferings
Finally executed as a criminal in Rome
Paul’s sufferings were much, but He knew that he wouldn’t be done here until Christ was done with him being a witness (Greek Martus or Martyr)

The Light of the Gospel

Our call to this ministry of the Gospel of Mercy
Once you come to Jesus, this life becomes a ministry.

We no longer live for ourselves but we live for Christ and His purposes, no longer for our purposes

I was once in darkness but God revealed His light in us which created life in me.
The Light of God’s Glory in us (vs 5 - 6)
The same light that God declared into being in is the same light that He gave into our hearts.
We can share it with others because we first have first hand knowledge of God’s glory as we see it in Christ Jesus who is in us.
It is the light of God’s glory which we see God’s glory greater than Moses did.
It represents the light of God’s law which is perfect
It represents the light of God Himself, in His righteousness
Now through Christ, He has made you righteous

Through God’s grace, we have His glory in us, His perfection, His righteousness.
It is unveiled glory to us, but veiled to others.
The glory that Moses experienced, faded as it was a one time event for him.
For us, the Glory that we experience lives on through Christ in us.
Particularly through Christ’s death, therefore through our death.
It is all in the face of Jesus Christ
Do you know Jesus?
Have you spent time gazing into His face.
Do we know the glory of His death and resurrection.
Do we eagerly spend time studying His face and knowing who He is? Do you spend time staring into His face in your own time with Him?

The purpose of Our Suffering is the proving of God’s grace
Death at work in us for the life of Others (vs 12 - 15)
We are witnesses of His death and Resurrection (vs 13)
it is at great personal cost that we are in this ministry of sharing His glory with others.
As grace is proved to more and more people, Thanksgiving to God increases (vs 15)
Our outer person is being destroyed but our inner person renewed (vs 16)

Find the meaning of your life in Him.
In light of looking upon His face and His glory, see the temporary suffering and trials of this place as a means to glorify Him in all we do!
These temporary trials and sufferings are transforming us into what He wants us to be.
Let’s lay down our lives as witnesses and Martyrs for Him.
Let’s live for what is unseen so that we might win the prize of Glory!
