Farming is hard work

But a very good work

It is nice to work and know that it will bring something good

It will give food for families

It will help to give strength

The Bible uses this illustration often

We serve the Lord as a farmer(kisaan-jhai)

What does the farmer do?

1.

The farmer prepares

The soil must be prepared

Luke 13

Uhaa’le yo drishTaanta pani bhannu-bhayo: “Kunai ek-janaa maanisko, aaphno daakh-baarimaa jopieko euTaa nebhaaraako rukh thiyo; ani tini tyasmaa phal khojdai aae, ra euTai pani paaenan.

Clean out other plants

If we are going to serve the Lord well

If we are going to plant well

And to plant well...

We must first clean our lives

We must clear the fields of our lives

What ever does not please the Lord should be removed

It will hurt our harvest

Remove the sin in our lives

Even after planting, we need to remove weeds

Even believers need to keep their hearts clean

Plowing the ground(halo jotnu)

Hard ground is not good for plants

On a path vs broken up ground

If we want a good harvest

We need to make the ground soft

Timiharu aaphnaa nimti dhaarmikataa-maa biu chara!

Kripaa-anusaar-ko kaTani gara!

Aaphno baa’jho jamin khanajot gara; kinabhane jaba0samma uhaa’ aaunuhunna ra timiharu-maathi dharmikataa barsaaunuhunna, ra taba-samma Param-Prabhulaai khojne samaya yahi ho.

Often seed should be planted

But hearts are hard(saahro)

The seeds of truth grows best in a soft heart

Satyataako bui-haru kamala hridayamaa sabai-banda raamro-saanga badchha.

Prepare your heart

Ready your heart for listening,

For obeying

For following

For growing

A soft heart

Plowed ground

Prepare!

2. The farmer(kisaan) plants

God’s Word is like a seed!

If we do not plant seed

No harvest(phasal) will come

Waiting for harvest - no seed planted

Ajhai pani daakhko boT, nebhaaraako rukh, daarim ra jaitunako rukhle phal phalaaekaa chhainan; Aajako din-dekhi ma timi-harulaai aashish dinechhu.’

Many Christians want a harvest(phasal)

But they never plant seed

They don’t share the gospel

They don’t speak about Jesus

The seed is still in the barn!

But they are looking for harvest(phasal)

We start by sowing!

Don’t wait forever!

Jasle haawaalaai heribaschha, tyasle biu charnechhaina; Ani jasle baadal-haru heribaschha, tyasle kaTani garnechhaina.

Many people are waiting for the perfect time

To share the gospel

To speak up against wickedness

But the perfect time is now!

When is the best time to plant a tree?

Don’t worry about the result!

3. The farmer prunes

Cuts away non important branches

“Saa’cho daak-ko boT ma nai hu’, ani meraa pitaa kisaan hunu-hunchha.

2 Ma-maa bhaeko phal naphalne harek haa’gaalaai uhaa’le haTaaunu-hunchha; ra phal phalaaune harek haa’gaalaai, tyasle ajha derai phal phalos bhanera uhaa’le chhaa’Tnuhunchha.

3 Maile timiharulaai bhaneko bachan-duaaraa timiharu shuddha bhaisakekaa chhaau.

Why?

Because a tree has a limited amount of energy

That energy should not be wasted

If a branch is not bearing fruit, it gets cut off

If there are unfruitful branches in our own lives

Cut them off

Does an activity honor the Lord?

“Well it’s not sinful”

“Well, it’s not wicked”

But is it good?

Is it profitable?

Is it fruitful for the Lord?

4. The farmer harvests(kaTani garchha)
