ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE

Introduction:

1. When you hear the words “all things are possible” what comes to mind.
2. Are you filled with hope and is your faith stirred when you hear those words...or do you think it’s just wishful thinking to believe “all things are possible?”
3. Well this morning we are going to look at those words and we are going to see that those are words are applied to God and to man.

1) All Things are Possible With God

Matthew 19:26 NIV
26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matt. 19:26
Mark 10:27 NIV
27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Mark 10:27
Mark 14:36 NKJV
36 And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
Mark 14:36
God has no limitations…He has unlimited power & ability.
-In other words, there is nothing that He can’t do.
This means, there is nothing that He can’t do.
-In other words, there is nothing that He can’t do.
Now think about that for a moment.
NOTE: Our God can do ANYTHING…therefore:
There is no person that He can’t save.
-There is no sickness that He can’t heal.
There is no sickness that He can’t heal.
-There is no need that He can’t meet.
There is no need that He can’t meet.
-There is no place that He can’t send revival.
There is no place that He can’t send revival.
-There is no situation that He can’t turn around.
There is no situation that He can’t turn around.
NOTE: All things are possible with God!
(Illus. He spoke & this world came into existence.)
Hebrews 11:3
Hebrews 11:3 NIV
3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
Psalm 33:9 NIV
9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
NOTE: Throughout the Bible God did the impossible.
-Throughout the Bible God did the impossible.
-Throughout the Bible God did the impossible.
-Throughout the Bible God did the impossible.
(Illus. Creation...Parted the Red Sea...Fed millions for 40 years...Virgin birth of Jesus...Jesus’ Resurrection)
NOTE: God specializes in the impossible.
In fact, when I read the Bible I don’t see God doing anything normal.
(Illus. To deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, He sent 10 plagues.)
(Illus. He led them with a cloud during the day & a pillar of fire by night.)
(Illus. He fed them with manna from heaven rather than have them hunt & scavenge for food.)
(Illus. When it came time for a Savior to be born, He chose a teenage virgin.)
(Illus. To bring salvation to humanity, His Son had to die & rise again from the dead.)
(Illus. To spread the Gospel to the world, God chose to use a group of fishermen, tax collectors, & women who were uneducated & untrained...and they turned the world upside down.)
NOTE: God doesn’t do anything normal.
1 Corinthians 1:25–29 NIV
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. 26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.
1 Cor. 1:25-29
NOTE: God doesn’t operate the way that we do...His ways are not our ways & His thoughts are not our thoughts.
NOTE: God doesn’t operate the way that we do...His ways are not our ways & His thoughts are not our thoughts.
God doesn’t do things the way we do…but His ways work b/c ALL things are possible with God.
NOTE: His ways may not make sense to us but with Him the impossible becomes possible.
With God the impossible becomes possible.
In fact, impossible isn’t in God’s vocabulary.
Luke 1:37
Luke 1:37 NIV - Anglicised
37 For nothing is impossible with God.”
Do you believe your God is big enough to do the impossible?
Do you believe your God is big enough to do the impossible?

2) All Things are Possible to Those Who Believe

Mark 9:23 NKJV
23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Mark 9:23
1. All things are possible with God but we, however, have limitations.
-All things are possible but we, however, have limitations.
2. We are only able to achieve what we are able to believe for.
Matthew 21:22 NKJV
22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
Matt. 21:22
3. When we pray...we must pray believing.
-When we pray...we must pray believing.
NOTE: Praying alone doesn’t work...Praying w/o faith accomplishes nothing.
4. Again, we can only receive what we are able believe for.
NOTE: If you can believe, it is possible.
If you can have faith for it, you can see it happen.
All things are possible to those who believe.
And notice that it doesn’t some say some things, but ALL THINGS
NOTE: Whatever you need…You CAN RECEIVE...IF you BELIEVE.
Matthew 21:22 NIV
22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Mark 11:24 NIV
24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
To receive you have to believe…and you’re going to have to believe before you see anything change.
2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV
7 For we live by faith, not by sight.
NOTE: You can’t live your life by what you see.
NOTE: You can’t live your life by what you see.
NOTE: You can’t live your life by what you see.
I’m not saying to ignore what you see but if you live by what you see…you will live in fear rather than faith.
Faith doesn’t ignore the facts…but faith chooses to believe God & what He says rather than what the circumstances say.
NOTE: When you’re walking by faith you will start looking at your situations & saying - ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!
Do you have faith to believe for the impossible?
Do you believe that all things are possible?

CONCLUSION:

1. God can do all things.
He can heal, perform miracles, deliver, & still do everything that we read about in His Word.
But why do we see very little of these things taking place in our lives & in our church services today.
2. I believe it’s b/c “all things are possible with God” is connected with “all things are possible with those who believe.”
Iow’s, what God does is connected with what we believe for.
Or to say it another way - God moves when we believe…God responds to faith…God does what you’re believing Him to do.
So, could it be that God isn’t working miracles b/c we’re not believing Him for miracles?
NOTE: God is limited by a lack of faith.
Jesus couldn’t work miracles in some places b/c of unbelief.
Let’s pray!
Matthew 13:58 NIV
58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.
What you need God to do in your life could be hindered by unbelief.
So, it’s time to get rid of the unbelief & believe that ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!
Let’s pray!
