Exodus 17:8–16 AV
Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi: For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.

You don’t have to be a boxing fan
C. D. Blaylock is not very well known. But he did something in the ring that should have made him one of the most famous boxers of all time. In the 1930s Blaylock stepped in the ring to fight another boxer, but he really didn’t need another opponent. Because in one of the strangest moments in boxing history, Blaylock took a huge uppercut at his rival, missed him and ended up hitting himself right in the chin. Staggered, fell down, totally out for the count. He became the only prize fighter in history to defeat himself by knockout.
I’ve seen many christians just like him.
They are in the ring against the devil, the flesh and the world. But the devil doen’s really need any help, because they keep knocking themselves out.
We’re all fighting battles:
Family Battles
Fighting for our marriage
fighting for our:
Children,
Future
Financial Battles
Fitness Battles
Fighting fitness battles
Fighting faithfulness battles
It’s very difficult for you to maintain a strong walk with God because you don’t yield to anything but temptation.
Lust
But, I’m convinced that we are all in need of a hand
Too many Christians are being defeated in their daily battles because some of us are not showing up for the war. And others do not even know the war is going on.
But I do believe many Christians are simply not using the weapons that God has for us.
Cause our weapons are not carnal....
I want to talk tonight on how to make a difference in the world in being victorious over the enemy.

THE LORD BLESSES

Exodus 17:8 AV
Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
“Then” “Now”
Up until now several things had happened to God’s people.
A wall of the Red Sea....
Mara - Oasis but waters were bitter - God shows Moses a trea...
Elim - 12 Wells and 70 palms - Starving God reigned Manna
Rephidem - Rest - Dying of thirst - God tells moses to go strike a rock....
Up until this time Israel had been given blessing after blessing after blessing.
But now Amelek came and fought with Israel at ....
You need to understand who Amelek is:
General Douglas MacArthur once wrote an article entitled Requisites for Military Success.
The great leader said there are four ingredients necesary to win any battle
Morall
Strength
Supply
Knowledge of the Enemy - The greater the knowldege of the Enemy the greather potential for victory
Amelek = Grandson of Esau who was the twin brother of Jacob. He was the man who sold his birthright for a bowl of soup. His descendants became the first nation to oppose israel after they left Egypt.
Amelek represnts the flesh (Not the physical flesh) but the sinful nature that we are botrn with that causes us to do bad when we ought to do good. It’s interesting, whenever you read about Amelek, He’s always found inside the camp of Israel.
Today we have an enemy inside of us thats called flesh. We have 3 enemies in life. The Devil, the worldand the flesh.
The greatest enemy is not the Devil, it’s not the world. it’s the flesh
Galatians 5:17 AV
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
There is no record that the jews ever had to fight a battle in Egypt. But once they were delivered from bondage the enemies started lining up.’ Cause Hell don’t need to bother you when your living for the devil.....
1 John 4:4 AV
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1
The Lord is our blesser....
Battles always follow blessing
Cod fish are caught in the NE. They are liked on the west coast. But by the time they got them there, by train they were soft, mushy, fisshy and nobody would buy them. Somebody said, I’ve got an idea. The enemy of the Cod is the Catfish. Let’s put a catfish in every tank.....
You think your going through a battle....
I don’t know what level your on, but its not good to be in the first grade after you’be been living for God for 30 years.
It’s not bad to be in a battle.....
Exodus 17:9 AV
And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.
When you go up
Higher ground is a strategic advantage
Moses represents the Prayer Warrior
Anytime the Christian prays - he always goes to higher ground!
Exodus 17:10 AV
So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
Moses was praying and Joshua was fighting
If you pray but you don’t go to war your only fooling yourself
If you go to war without praying you’ll never succeed!
Pray as everything depends on God
Work as if everything depends on us
Some people want to be like monks in a monestary
Some who want to leave the monestaty....
One is just as wrong as the other
You cannot win in the valley unless you win on the hilltop.
Weariness in prayer brings weakness in battle
The battle is really won in prayer
Exodus 17:10 AV
So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
Exodus 17:10–11 AV
So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
When we don’t pray, we not only weaken yourself but we strengthen our enemy.
Prayer is not just for defense it’s for Offence
Joshua could not have succeeded without Moses, but Moses could not have prevailed without Aaron and Hur.
If Aaron and Hur fails then.......
We need to lift the hands of prayer in this church!
Example
It’s not a man I”m representing - It’s prayer
Somebody needs to lift a hand and say Prayer Still Works!
Exodus 17:12 AV
But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
The battle was not won because of Joshua’s genius.....
It was won on the hill
When you work you see what you can do
When you pray you see what God can do
Joshua fought
Moses prayed
But it was God that gave the victory
1 John 5:4 AV
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Exodus 17:15 AV
And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:
1 John 4:
The Lord is my Banner
A visual reminder that Israel marched under a sovereign God
War Flag - You know how you get a war flag - You get in a War Room!
Exodus 17:16 AV
For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
Saul - David - To this very day
Amelekites represent flesh
Your never free from it till you get to heaven
Bad news - your no match for Amelek
Good news - Amelek is no match for Jehovah Nissi
Church is not going to go out in a limp, it’s going to go out in a
The British at Yorktown had all he resources they needed. They just didn’t have gthe will to win.
Don’t resign the battle because you don’t think you have the resources.
You were designed to conquer.
We can win this thing!
I want to thank you prayer warriors....
God is in this house! Stand to your feet and rejoice!
Hold up the hands of prayer!
Prayer is looking for a hand!
