Intro:

We are in a series called 5 Offices and we are studying the 5 fold ministry of the church...
comfortable with using the term manifold ministry...
These functions / offices / are positions that men and women are called to
You don’t just wake up one day and say I want to be an Apostle or Prophet
God places a gift of grace on certain individuals - chosen by Himself and calls them into “office”
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

Keep in mind that the characteristics of the individuals that are called to an office are:
Keep in mind that the characteristics of the individuals that are called to an office are:
Humility
Servanthood
As a reminder individuals function in this gift for the following reasons:
To equip the saints
for the work of the ministry
for the edifying of the body of Christ
Brian - I just kinda of wanted to come sit and watch…problem is this is not a biblical model for the believer
God will put people in our path, to help release us into “doing our part in the Lord’s work”
I encourage you to move past frustration mode when God puts equippers in your life…use their gift as a leverage point in becoming fully develop and released into your gifting. THIS IS WHY GOD HAS PLACED THEM IN OFFICE!
WEEK ONE WE LOOKED AT:
The Apostle - overseer of churches or ministries - is instrumental in helping this get started or re-started...
The Prophet - Is a mouth piece for God - they speak of what God reveals to them (will align with scripture)
TODAY - THE EVANGELIST

The Evangelist (move seat into place)

The evangelist will differ from that of the APOSTLE and PROPHET...
Their desire and function will be be a hightened sensitivity or grace - for souls (soul-winners)
these individuals look for spaces and places to share the “good news” of the Lord - with an emphasis of seeing people added to the kingdom
This does not minimize that all of us should has a desire to see souls brought to Christ...
Yet an Evangelist has been called by God and gifted for this task....
We are going to keep the common theme that we have used throughout this message…all christians are called to evangelize the lost - yet all Christians are not EVANGELISTS
This is an office in the Manifold ministry or the five fold ministry...
I sat down yesterday day evening and listened the man who has been given the title of “AMERICAS PREACHER”
Reverend Graham in his last message and America and to the world was “in essence this”....
And when we had finished our voyage from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, greeted the brethren, and stayed with them one day. 8 On the next day we who were Paul’s companions departed and came to Caesarea, and entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him. 9 Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied. 10 And as we stayed many days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11 When he had come to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’ ” -
He never planned on getting to meet the types of people that he met...
Never invisiononed stadiums being filled with people...
He just had a desire to bring the message of the cross to those who had not heard it
I believe that The Revered “Evangelist” Billy Graham occupied the office of Evangelist.
I believed this is evidence in his ministry - having reached 215 million people in his lifetime with the message of the Gospel!

But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Fulfill your ministry - this is such an important word for each of us today!
We need to be aware of what it is God has graced us with and start using this in the kingdom...
Does this mean every one should try to be an APOSTLE - PROPHET OR EVANGELIST
NOT AT ALL!
Remember that these individuals will be key vessels God uses to equip and realease God’s people into ministry
****sit down at the desk and explain these OFFICES working together not against one another - to accomplish movement in the kingdom***
THE CHURCH IS NOT A PLACE TO COME AND STAND WHILE EVERYONE STANDS - AND SIT WHILE EVERY ONE SITS…IT IS ALIVE AND BREATHING AND LIVING AND MOVING...
My desire for MH is God’s desire that we all find our place and have the capacity to be realesed into our gifting…as the church is edified and built up
