Introduction:

Can you be trusted? I mean, can you really be trusted with important stuff? Can you be counted on? Are you fiercely loyal? Are you completely duty bound in your work as well as your Christian life? Are you the one that others will choose in matters of utmost importance? Does your account of events strictly match the facts of what actually happened, or do you embellish from time to time?
The preceeding questions were about what it means to be faithful. As we continue to learn about being doers of the Word, and we continue to study the fruits of the Spirit, we come upon this little word, “Faith”. As believers we have been given the Holy Spirit in order to empower us to make choices that contrast the choices that our flesh or carnal nature would make. We have learned about these other fruits. We have learned that each fruit involves a choice to avoid the carnal and embrace the spiritual path.
The word faith follows the same pattern. in this context, faith is not just that trust that accesses the Grace of God to save our souls, but it is also the quality of being Faithful or Trustworthy. Merriam-Webster puts it like this:

1faith•ful \ˈfāth-fəl\ adjective

14th century

1 obsolete: full of faith

2: steadfast in affection or allegiance: LOYAL

3: firm in adherence to promises or in observance of duty: CONSCIENTIOUS

4: given with strong assurance: BINDING 〈a faithful promise〉

5: true to the facts, to a standard, or to an original 〈a faithful copy〉—faith•ful•ly \-fə-lē\ adverb—faith•ful•ness noun

Let us study each of these nuances of what it means to be faithful under the light of scripture and, by the Grace of God, choose to do what it takes to be a faithful Christian.

Romans 5:2 KJV 1900
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
