A small businessman was in trouble.  His products were good and his prices were in line.  He decided to call in an expert for advice.  After going over the problems and plans, he took the sales expert to a large map on the wall and showed him the colored pins stuck wherever he had a salesman. Looking at the expert he asked, “Now for a starter what is the first thing we should do?’:”

“Well,” replied the expert, “the first thing is to take the pins out of the map and stick them in the salesman.”

The church has made rapid progress in the past few years and for this we are extremely thankful.  However, we have unused power that needs to be put to work in the best business known, reaching people with the gospel of Christ.  Gimmicks and high sounding phrases do not provide the answer to our problem.

When people are willing to work for the Lord, the church will grow.  A church will grow as people are converted to Christ not when they are attracted by advertising innovations; when we refuse to leave all of the teaching in the hands of a few and become active in the work ourselves, tide need to stick the pins in the hearts of members and goad them to action.  Until this is done, the Lord’s work will continue to walk when it could and should be running.
