9 The Aointing of a King Vision 2018: Forward The Anointing of a King 1 Chronciles 16:1 Introduction: 2018 April 22 AM I. The Oil of Anointing (review) What is Anointing? - Anointing was "to present someone as Divinely-authorized (appointed by God) to serve as prophet, priest or king." - A. Three things the oil is symbolic for. Always represents the Holy Ghost. a. Anoint - To smear or paint something, to "draw the hand over anything." For Kingdom use. b. Consecrate - Is two Hebrew words male' & yawd - Yawd means an open hand indicating power, meaning direction. Also, to make full – abundance & overflowing. c. Sancitfy - To be set apart, to be pure, clean, hallowed. When sanctified according to Scripture you are destined for holy worship. B. Let’s look at the process of releasing the king. a. Choosing a King: Samuel, based on appearance, felt the oldest son of Jesse Eliab was the one. His name means, "God is father." 1 Samuel 16:6-7 All seven of Jesse's oldest sons stood before the Prophet Samuel, but the LORD said none of these, yet He had said to Samuel one of Jesse's sons would be anointed king. 1 Samuel 16:11Samuel asked, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.” You may seem to be the least likely choice. Your job or responsibilities may feel insignificant, but God-Adonai knows exactly who you are & where you are. He will call you out of the field to anoint you as a king. b. Anointed King: The LORD says to Samuel about David, “This is the one; anoint him.” Imagine what Jesse & his other seven sons must have thought as they saw him anointed King. When David was anointed as King of Israel the Word says, the "Spirit of the LORD came upon David." Literally - the Ruach (breath) of Jehovah which represents the endowment, empowering or imparting of gifts. When the Spirit of the LORD "came upon" David it was a literal breaking forth of God upon him. The LORD broke through any & every barrier in David's life placed by man, tradition or the value of self-worth in order to promote David to his God ordained calling. c. The King inside: There was a king inside David from his mother's womb. Even though he was young, probably about 15, there was a process of life he was more than a herdsman of sheep. After he was anointed his brothers still mocked him being "just" a keeper of a few sheep. Obviously no one, not even his father or the Prophet would have chosen David to be anointed, releasing the king. The enemy will tell you, you can't be anointed - releasing the king. The Word says different! There IS a king inside. Revelation 1:6 (BIBLE) II. The Anointing Releases the King A King is empowered… I'm not talking about some rogue agent going out casting spells on people! Even a King is responsible for actions. As kings & priests you are under the lordship of Jesus Christ the King of kings! He has given you His Word to guide & His Spirit to empower. You don't get to just go out saying whatever you "feel." Sometimes that "feeling" is bad indigestion! Remember the application: Let the Anointing Release the King. David could have refused the anointing, he could have turned away from it or made excuses as to “why” he could never be anointed king. A King is Empowered to: A. Decree Job 22:28You will also declare (decree KJV) a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways. NKJV B. Command Proverbs 16:3Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established. NKJV CJB your plans will achieve success AMPC Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed. C. Expand 1 Chronicles 4:10“Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested. III. Speak the Word – Decree – Command - Expand A. A text from an out of state friend said the LORD had this for me. Vs. 6 – ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts. a. Zechariah 4:7‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’” b. Isaiah 10:4Every valley shall be exalted And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough places smooth. c. Place your name in the Word - … - B. The reason we can do this is because of the resurrection of Christ. - He asks us to: * Repent * Live by Faith * Be Baptized * Be Filled with His Spirit Conclusion: PRESENT THE GOSPEL FOR SALVATION – EVERY WEEK – AND THE NEED TO COME FORWARD IN PUBLIC ACCEPTANCE OF CHRIST
