What Is?
What Could Be?
What Should Be?
What Will Be?
What is our Primary Mission?
The Bible clearly indicates that our primary mission as a followers of Christ is to Love God and bring Him honor.
Deuteronomy 6:4 ESV
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Deut. 6:4
1 Cor
1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Mark 12:29-
Mark 12:29–31 ESV
Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
How is God glorified in our lives?
John 17:4 ESV
I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.
2 Corinthians 9:13 ESV
By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others,
2 Cor
Matthew 5:16 ESV
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
John 15:8 ESV
By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
What happens when we lose clarity about the mission?
“Ultimately, deep change whether at the personal or the organizational level, is a spiritual process. Loss of alignment occurs when for whatever reason, we begin to pursue the wrong and as time passes, something inside us starts to wither. We lose our vitality and begin to work from sheer discipline. Our energy is not naturally replenished, and we experience no joy in what we do. We are experiencing slow death.
Titus 2:13 ESV
waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
Titus 2:13–14 NLT
while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
Colossians 1:26–27 ESV
the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Colossians 3:3 ESV
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
John 15:4 ESV
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
1. VISIONS: To look outward not inward.
The enemy loves to destroy form the inside out.
2. WORDS: To bless not curse.
Luke 6:26–27 KJV 1900
Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets. But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
3. ATTITUDE: We are selfless not selfish.
John 15:13 ESV
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
4. MOTIVATION: We live to give not get.
Philippians 2:4–8 ESV
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
5. RELATIONSHIPS: We love unconditional not provisional.
5. RELATIONSHIPS: We love unconditional not provisional.
not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
