A. Justification Defined

To be vindicated (vin·di·cate ‘vindəˌkāt’) - clear someone of blame or suspicion.
To be acquitted or pardoned. To be in Right Relationship With God (declared righteous).
Romans 4:3 NASB95
For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

B. Justification is Through the Redemption in Christ

Romans 3:24 NASB95
being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;
Romans 5:18 NASB95
So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.
Romans 5:9 NASB95
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
Romans 5:16 NASB95
The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification.
Galatians 3:27 NASB95
For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

C. Justification is by Faith...

Believing on Christ is distinctly not “turning the direction of your life over to Him” It is looking in faith to our Saviour crucified for our sins on Calvary! It is not of works, devotion or full surrender. It is His work and His death that avails.
...apart from works
Romans 3:28 NASB95
For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.
Galatians 2:16 NASB95
nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
Galatians 2:21 NASB95
“I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.”
...which is not a work
Romans 4:5 NASB95
But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness,
...in Christ Alone
Galatians 2:16 NASB95
nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

D. Knowing yet Rejecting God’s Truth

The lack of knowledge is not the problem
Romans 1:25 NASB95
For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Misplaced faith is the problem
Hebrews 4:2 NASB95
For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard.
3. Biblical faith is trust placed on God Through His Word
Romans 10:17 NASB95
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
Galatians 3:24 NASB95
Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.

E. Justification is the Basis to Sanctification

Romans 5:1–2 NASB95
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 6:4 NASB95
Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

F. Justification Guarantees Glorification

Romans 8:30 NASB95
and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
Titus 3:7 NASB95
so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Romans 5:9 NASB95
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
Romans 4:8 NASB95
Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.”
