THE ACCUSER
Revelation 12:10 NLT
10 Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, “It has come at last— salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth— the one who accuses them before our God day and night.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before you sin he tells you:
It’s no big deal. No one find out!
Everyone does it! You deserve it!
It’s only this once. You won’t get caught!
After you sin he condemns you:
You are nothing. How could God love you?
Your life is ruined.
You’re pathetic.

When the devil talks to you about God, he lies.

When the devil talks to you about you, he accuses.

Powerful, prophetic and personal text in book of Zechariah. (Vision)
Setting is a courtroom: (Perry Mason, Law and Order, Judge Judy)
God is the judge.
Joshua (the high priest) is the defendant.
Satan is the prosecutor (the accuser).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Satan—Prosecutor—Trying to prove Joshua’s guilt.
Appears case—Joshua—Robes are filthy—Sin—Priest
Zechariah 3:1–3 NIV
1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. 2 The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?” 3 Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel.
(Angel Jacob, 4th man in fire)
(Angel Jacob, 4th man in fire)
A time when I was under-dressed made me feel ashamed, embarrassed, unworthy to be where I was = Filthy clothes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Imagine Satan pitching his case against you:
Didn’t you steal something way back when?—Take the Lord’s name in vain/cuss?
Lied?, Yelled at kids?, Affair, Divorced?, Bankruptcy?, Porn addiction?, Abortion?, Secret sin?
He makes you feel Dirty—Ashamed—Unworthy—Accuser hurls shame
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before we look at the rest of the story—Remind you who Jesus is.

The devil is the accuser.

Jesus is your advocate.

1 John 2:1 NLT
1 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.

Devil hurls accusations at Joshua—Jesus is our defense.
4 The angel said to those who were standing before him [Joshua], “Take off his [Joshua’s] filthy clothes.” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.”
Zechariah 3:4 NIV
4 The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.”
Bless you with something you don’t deserve!
Bless you with something you don’t deserve!
Not because you are good—This is how good God is!
Prodigal Son: Dirty clothes—In your shame (God not laughing, running)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zechariah 3:5–7 NIV
5 Then I said, “Put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the Lord stood by. 6 The angel of the Lord gave this charge to Joshua: 7 “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘If you will walk in obedience to me and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here.
(Probation, Earn it back, Limit)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Angel ordered—Remove filthy clothes—Holy garments!
Return to the temple—Keep serving the Lord.
If you’ve failed, fallen, messed up—Receive—Keep serving.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Done something wrong—Important learn distinguish
Satan’s accusations and the Spirit’s conviction.
Accusation—Drive us away from God WHILE Conviction—Lead us God
Accusation—Guilt, shame WHILE Conviction—Leads to repentance and hope!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Satan accuses—Wants you to feel guilty, experience regret and remorse
Spirit convicts—Draw you to the presence of God to experience grace.
Confess our sins (1 John 1:9)
No condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus! (Romans 8:1)
The devil knows your name—but calls you by your sin.
God knows your sin—but calls you by your name.

2 Corinthians 10:3–5 NLT
3 We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. 4 We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. 5 We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re a failure—Should be ashamed!
I am the righteousness of God in Christ—New creation
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
God is punishing me.
My Father is a good God who gives good gifts. Attack from evil one.
What devil meant for evil—God will use for God.
Consider it pure joy whenever I face…
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After what you did, God won’t come through—Big trouble.
Rejoice in the Lord always. Say it again: Rejoice! The Lord is near.
Not anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make requests to God. And peace of God, transcends all understanding, will guard my heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
God isn’t there. He’s disappointed. Doesn’t love you.
No, in all these things—more conquerors through him who loved us.
For I am convinced—neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
My God will never leave me—My God will never forsake me!
My God is for me—I am not fighting for victory—From victory I already have in Christ Jesus!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you.  NLT

17 But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!
