Outline:
Vs 31-32 Who can be against us
God is for us
Not for the world…not for everyone
“us” are those who have made Jesus Lord of their life and trusted in His resurrection as the means to save us
This is not saying nobody is against us, really this is saying no one can succeed against us.
God gave the greatest when He gave His Son - If he gave us the greatest, wouldn’t he also be willing and able to give us anything else we need?
Vs 33-34 It is God who justifies
Justify - Declare righteous, case one to be in right relation, vindicate, put right with
Justify - Declare righteous, case one to be in right relation, vindicate, put right with
If God has done that, than who can charge us?
Jesus was charged, convicted and punished for false charges, but He knew it was all for a purpose
We may be charged or accused, but no charges brought against us will impact our eternal standing before God
Nothing should condemn us…not even ourselves.
Jesus died, rose again, is at the right hand of the Father and is interceding for us.
Interceding - making an appeal for, pleading, petition
If Jesus is doing this for us to God, what can anyone say about us?
Vs 35-37 We are more than conquerors
trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger or sword/death cannot separate us from Christ’s love for us.
Notice this doesn’t say our love FOR Christ.
Our love may falter and waiver from time to time, but His love for us will not.

The quote here is from where the people being persecuted and slaughtered are innocent.
They make a plea at the end for God to help…they ask the question Why?...
Just because you are suffering or going through something hard, don’t ever let anyone tell you it is because of something you’ve done wrong.
And don’t ever be the person telling someone they aren’t blessed because of wrong doing in their life.
Read about Job and his friends to see what happens to those false accusers.
more than conquerors - hypernikao - really two words, hyper (great, complete, overwhelming) and nikao from which the Nike company got it’s name (win, conquer, triumph) together - have complete triumph, win a most thorough victory
This victory is not on our own, it is through Him who loved us.
Vs 38-39 Nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God
several contrasting pairs
death/life, angels/demons, present/future, height/depth
as well as ANY powers or anything else in creation
No of that can separate us.
What do we do with all of this?
Struggle is inevitable - Life in Christ is not absence of struggle or enemy, it is a promise to help you overcome and see ultimate victory over all
Freedom from failure - This should give us a freedom to take some risks as we follow him
if our success does not depend on us, but on Christ in us, what do we have to lose?
Joy in suffering - We are free to rejoice in the suffering and trials and be thankful for them because that means God is trusting us to accomplish something for Him.
Our victory and joy in the midst of pain is the greatest witness of Christ’s love in us.
Love is the result - If we are in the love of Christ, the love of Christ allows us to love those around us.
