Review:
What does it take to become a “Jesus Follower of Faith that Expands God’s Kingdom?”
Monday: Bible Believers
Tuesday: Disciple Makers
Wednesday: God Pleasers
What is the one thing that you must have to please God? Faith
Every person must choose one of two paths in their life.
What are the two paths?
The broad way of destruction.
The narrow way of the Lord.
Introduction:
Today we are talking about being a Community Engager.
A Community Engager is someone that finds ways to build new relationships with the people around him.
Pastor Chris is a Community Engager.
He has made Massi Corner a place for the community.
School for the Children
Water for people to drink
Electricity to the village
Churches for people to worship
So how can you become a Community Engager in the place that you live.
There is a danger in thinking that you need money to be a community engager.
I want us to look at a story together this morning in .
It is the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand.
Jesus was a community engager.
And those that follow him must also be community engagers.
To Be a Community Engager, You must be a disciple.
John 6:1
There is a big difference in being a part of the crowd and being a disciple of Christ.
The crowd has no responsibilities they just watch what others do.
But the disciples work with Christ to accomplish his will.
The crowd are following because they wanted something from Christ.
But the disciples are following because the found something in Christ.
The disciples go up on the mountain to meet with the Lord, but the crowd just waits at the bottom.
The disciples know the Lord and have a special relationship with Jesus.
A community engager is a giver not a receiver.
The disciples sacrifice for the needs of the crowd.
The disciples are always giving, while the crowd is always receiving.
A Community Engager focuses on what he has, not what he doesn’t have.
John 6:
.
The danger is to think you have nothing to give.
Jesus already knows what he is going to do.
Jesus is the one with the power to change our community.
Jesus puts our faith to the test to see if we will trust him.
Not to see what we can do, but if we will trust him.
Our faith allows God to use us in his work.
John 6:7-
What you have is enough in the hands of the Lord
John 6:
When Jesus blesses what you have it is always more than enough.
You might not have money or food to give.
You might have hope, or healing, or faith, and love, encouragement, or bible understanding.
God is not limited by money.
You can always give what has been freely given to you.
When you are a community engager you reveal power of Christ to the world.
A Community Engager is Pushed by the love of Christ.
Peter’s Betrayal.
Love is what pushes you to be a community engager.
John 21:
Your love for Jesus drives your compassion for other.
Your love for Jesus causes you to give yourself to others.
Conclusion:
Are you a Community Engager?
Jesus is asking you the same question: Do you love me?
Are you a part of the crowd or are you a disciple of Christ?
Do you give to the needs of others or are you a taker?
