Verse 25

On the cusp being fed miraculously,
Many had not had a full stomach in a while
They received as much as they desired
The people had been suffering under the Roman rule, unjust aristocrats, and corruption of the temple
But God.... Sent Jesus
Savior
Healer
Provider
Reformer
King
The Promise of God
,
Perhaps well over 10000 people were looking for Jesus, wondering where their next meal ticket had departed. They went to Capernaum to search for Jesus. They had either heard the Lord’s instruction to for the disciples to go there or they presumed Jesus would go there to the synagogue. They were curious as to how Jesus got there so fast.

Verse 26

The response of Jesus resonates the words of Moses
Wandered because they failed to TRUST GOD
The Lord sustained them with MANNA for 40 years
Bread from heaven ;

Verse 27

Contrasting physical food with spiritual food
Physical food perishes fast; it spoils; gives into the bodily desires
Spiritual food comes by grace and lasts forever; sustains the soul and it sustaining comes from its Maker
We are called to devote equal passion to fulfilling the hunger of our souls
We need to work for food that satisfies our soul.
Isaiah 55:1 NIV84
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.
Isaiah 55:

Verse 28

They missed the point: Jesus said GIVE--- “eternal life which the Son of Man will give you”
The people asked: “What shall we do to do the works of God?”

Verse 29

Only work = belief
1 John 3:23 NIV84
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.
1 John 3:

Verse 30

They just didn’t get it--- Seeing is believing
Why are we a people that so sensational?

Verse 31

“He gave them manna”
He = Moses

Verse 32

Moses did not provide the manna, God did!
The Father gives the GIFT; All things come from God

Verse 33

The provision of manna is God’s grace
It is not for just a few, but for the WORLD!

Verse 34

The people’s request is similar to that of the woman at the well in

Verse 35

First of 7 “I am “ statements; 8:12; 10:7-9; 10:11-14; 11:26-26; 14:6; 15:1,5
In a single sentence, Jesus links the concept of belief, bread, eternal life and Himself
;

Verse 36

A rebuke: “As I have told you, you have seen me and still not believed.”

Verse 37

Jesus is a phenomenal example of stewardship, He is going care for that which He is entrusted.

Verse 38

“Come down from heaven.” A statement that declares Him to be God.
A mission statement of sorts is revealed: “To do the will of Him who sent me.”

Verse 39

Clarification of the mission statement:
purpose is to not lose anyone entrusted to Him by the Father
Oh what LOVE the Father has for us
Raise up the Last Day: There is a time coming when God will bring forth the final climax for mankind

Verse 40

It is the Father’s will that all will be saved
1 Timothy 2:4 NIV84
who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy
2 Peter 3:9 NIV84
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
